    Abstract: System and methods for smart cell selection and reselection are described. A mobile device may attempt to camp on a cell in a tracking area that has advertised a particular frequency band. If the mobile device is unable to recognize an information element identifying a different subset of the advertised frequency band than that supported by the mobile device, the mobile device will store a record of the tracking area and the advertised frequency band and compare future cell information broadcasts to the entry, avoiding attempts to operate within cells in the same tracking area advertising the same frequency. In this way the mobile device conserves resources by avoiding actions in incompatible cells and avoids storing information about many cells by only storing the tracking area information.

    Abstract: A method of quantifying charge variants within an analyte may include introducing a sample buffer comprising the analyte into a capillary, separating charge variants within the sample buffer along an isoelectric gradient, incubating the capillary in a detection antibody, quantifying a relative abundance of a charge variant based on a signal that corresponds to the detection antibody. The method may further include generating an electropherogram, wherein the electropherogram includes a plot of a strength of a signal generated by a reporter molecule versus an isoelectric point along the isoelectric gradient where the signal was detected.

    Abstract: A connection between a user equipment (UE) and an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) can become disrupted due to network-side issues with the IMS, an access network, or a core network. The UE can initiate a watchdog timer to determine when a previously-established IMS connection may be unusable due to such a network-side issue. If the watchdog timer expires, for example because the IMS does not reply to a message sent by the UE before the watchdog timer expires, the UE can toggle an airplane mode on and off. Toggling airplane mode on and off can deactivate and then re-activate a transmission interface of the UE, and cause the UE to establish a new usable connection with the IMS that may not be affected by the network-side issue that disrupted the previously-established IMS connection.

    Abstract: An online trimming device and method for a micro-shell resonator gyroscope is provided. A micro-shell resonator gyroscope fixing fixture and a mode test circuit in the device are placed in a vacuum test cavity provided with a circuit interface. The mode test circuit and a host computer are connected through a circuit interface on the vacuum test cavity. The gyroscope fixing fixture is provided with a signal interface, and the electrodes on the gyroscope substrate are connected to the signal interface. The signal interface on the fixture is connected to the mode test circuit. The laser etching module is located at the top of the device. An opening is formed in the gyroscope fixing fixture. The vacuum test cavity is provided with a transparent trimming window. The laser acts on the edge of the resonant structure of the gyroscope through the trimming window and the through hole of the fixture.

    Abstract: A bifilar winding system for the manufacture of poloidal field superconducting magnets for nuclear fusion includes two superconducting coil winding production lines which are symmetrically arranged, a dropping fixture, a rotary platform and a winding mold, and an automatic control system. Each of the two winding production lines includes a conductor unwinding device, a straightener, an ultrasonic cleaning machine, a sandblasting and cleaning machine, a bending machine, an inter-turn insulation taping machine. During the winding of a coil, a superconducting conductor is unwound by the conductor unwinding device under the control of the automatic control system, then straightened, ultrasonically cleaned, sandblasted and cleaned, and bent into a desired radius, then wrapped with multiple layers of insulating tape by the inter-turn insulation taping machine, and finally fixed, by the dropping fixture, precisely on the rotary platform at a correct position within a profile of the winding mold.

A vertically movable forming mechanism and a horizontally movable forming mechanism are mounted on a fixing plate. When the winding of a large-sized superconducting coil performs inter-layer transition, an armored superconducting conductor is clamped by wedge clamping mechanisms with right- and left-handed threads on the vertically movable forming mechanism and the horizontally movable forming mechanism, and a reference line on the conductor is ensured to be aligned with a reference line on a forming mold. The vertically movable forming mechanism is pressed down, under the drive of a double-acting hydraulic cylinder, in a vertical direction to form inter-layer transition, and the horizontally movable forming mechanism moves in a horizontal direction according to the reduction of the vertically movable forming mechanism.

    Abstract: A cellular communication network may be configured to use a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) base station and a New Radio (NR) base station to implement a Non-Standalone Architecture (NSA) configuration, in an environment in which the NR base station uses multiple frequency bands that provide respective bandwidths. During an NSA connection with a mobile device, LTE signal strength is used as an indicator of whether the device is within the coverage area of a given NR frequency band. When the LTE signal strength indicates that the device has moved into the coverage area of a frequency band having a higher bandwidth than the currently active NR connection, the device is instructed to release and reestablish its NR connection in order to reconnect using the best available NR frequency band. LTE A1 and/or A5 event measurements may be used to evaluate signal strengths and as triggers for NR release/reestablish operations.

    Abstract: A wireless communication system may support two types of networks, such as a 4th-Generation (4G) network and a 5th-Generation (5G) network. The 4G network is accessed through Long-Term Evolution (LTE) base stations. The 5G network is accessed through New Radio (NR) base stations. An LTE base station can be configured to broadcast information regarding whether it supports Non-Standalone Architecture (NSA) Dual Connectivity in conjunction with an associated NR base station. When a communication device receives an indication that NSA Dual Connectivity is available, the communication device selects a decision value based on the frequency bands that would be used during an NSA session anchored by the LTE base station. The communication device then uses the decision value in combination with the current 4G signal strength to determine whether 5G communications are currently available and whether to display a 5G symbol on the status bar of the communication device.

    Abstract: An access network can allocate a bearer for a network service associated with a quality-of-service (QoS) value (QV) and a retention-priority value (RPV), and determine a bearer ID for the service based on the QV, the RPV, and a supplemental priority value (SPV) different from the QV and from the RPV. Upon handover of a terminal, session(s) carried by a bearer allocated by the terminal can be terminated. That bearer can be selected using IDs of the bearers and a comparison function that, given two bearer IDs, determines which respective bearer should be terminated before the other. Upon handover of a terminal to an access network supporting fewer bearers per terminal than the terminal has allocated, a network node can select a bearer based on respective QVs and RPVs of a set of allocated bearers. The network node can deallocate the selected bearer.

    Abstract: When initiating a Voice-over-IP (VoIP) communication session between an originating device (MO) and a terminating device (MT) on a packet-switched network, network components associated with the MO may encounter a failure when preparing resources for the session, such as a failure to establish a dedicated bearer with the MO. This might typically cause the system to abort the session. Instead, the network components are configured to detect the failure and to initiate a handover to a circuit-switched communication network so that the session may be conducted through the circuit-switched communication network. The failure may be detected by a component of a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) Radio Access Network (RAN) of the network, by a Mobility Management Entity (MME) of the network, or by some other network component. Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC) procedures may be used to implement the handover.
