Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are provided that allow a user to easily generate and play back animation on a computing device. A user can use a mouse, stylus, or finger to draw a stroke indicating a path and speed with which a graphical object should be moved during animation playback. The graphical object may comprise a cartoon character, drawing, or other type of image. In a sequential mode, separate tracks are provided for each graphical object, and the objects move along tracks sequentially (one at a time). In a synchronous mode, graphical objects move along tracks concurrently. • Publication number: 20100104134
Abstract: A computer interface may use touch- and non-touch-based gesture detection systems to detect touch and non-touch gestures on a computing device. The systems may each capture an image, and interpret the image as corresponding to a predetermined gesture. The systems may also generate similarity values to indicate the strength of a match between a captured image and corresponding gesture, and the system may combine gesture identifications from both touch- and non-touch-based gesture identification systems to ultimately determine the gesture. A threshold comparison algorithm may be used to apply different thresholds for different gesture detection systems and gesture types.

  • Publication number: 20100024497
Abstract: A lock assembly with a picking resistant shield has a main lock and a key. The main lock has a shield attached to a front end of the main lock. The shield has an inner recess and an outer recess smaller than the inner recess. The key has a neck corresponding to the outer recess of the shield and a driving tube corresponding to the inner recess of the shield and is selectively mounted into the shield to unlock the main lock. Thus, the shield prevents the main lock from being picked from the front end of the main lock by a picking tool. Personal goods or private matters being protected by the lock assembly with the picking resistant shield are safe.

  • Patent number: 7555925
Abstract: A padlock has a shell, a lock cylinder, a shackle and a resilient element. The lock cylinder is mounted in the shell and has a lock rod. The shackle is mounted slidably through a front opening of the shell and has a distal end, a proximal end and a protruding segment. The distal end is selectively received in a mounting slot of the shell. The protruding segment selectively abuts the lock rod to keep the shackle from sliding. The resilient element is mounted in the shell and presses against the proximal end of the shackle. With the resilient element, the distal end of the shackle is maintained in the mounting slot without any external force. Therefore, the padlock may still hold an object in position without locking and then the user may take the object easily without using a key.

  • Patent number: 7540975
Abstract: An optically compensated birefringence liquid crystal alignment agent. The liquid crystal alignment agent includes one or more polymerizable monomers polymerized to form a polymer having liquid crystal alignment memory on an alignment layer by irradiating an energy ray. Liquid crystals are rapidly converted from splay state to bend state along the polymer memory direction so that a liquid crystal display reaches steady state immediately by only applying normal voltage, without application of high voltage. The invention also provides a liquid crystal display including the liquid crystal alignment agent and a method for fabricating the liquid crystal display.

  • Publication number: 20080052007
Abstract: Classification of breast tumours into Estrogen Receptor positive and negative (ER+ and ER?) subtypes is an important distinction in the treatment of breast cancer. ER typing is frequently performed using expression profiles of genes whose expression is known to be affected by ER activity. Some tumours cannot confidently be assigned to a particular ER type based on such expression data. The present inventors have found that such “low confidence” tumours constitute a distinct biological subtype of breast tumours associated with significantly worse overall survival than high confidence tumours. Gene sets capable of distinguishing low confidence from high confidence tumours are provided, along with methods and apparatus for performing appropriate classification of breast tumours.
