  • Patent number: 5728499
Abstract: An electrophotographic photoreceptors having a protective layer which contains a specially cross-linked phenolic resin. The cross-linked phenolic resin contains both methylene ether linkages and methylene linkages that are provided such that the oxygen element content of the cross-linked phenolic resin contains no greater than 23.5 wt %, or more preferably between about 21 wt % and 23.5 wt %, of oxygen atoms. In a preferred embodiment, the specially cross-linked phenolic resin is formed by (a) raising the cross-linking temperature from 80.degree..+-.10.degree. C. to about 130.degree. C., in a cascading manner involving at least one intermediate treatment temperature; then (b) lowering the cross-linking temperature from about 130.degree. C. to 80.degree..+-.10.degree. C. The protective layer improves the chemical stability and mechanical strength of the electrophotographic photoreceptor while retaining the desired photoelectric properties thereof.

  • Patent number: 5537467
Abstract: A distributed service management system for providing communication services comprises a plurality of individual service management systems operated by a plurality of different service providers. Each service management system includes its own local database and an Interactive Distributed Transaction Monitor (IDTM) that allows locally running applications to access the local database as well as remote databases belonging to remotely located service management systems. The interfaces serve to integrate multiple individual service management systems into a single multidatabase transaction management system. The distributed service management system can be used to provide special personal communication services involving multiple service providers, such as call forwarding to a temporarily rented mobile telephone.

  • Patent number: 5523114
Abstract: For use in a self-emitting color display device such as a cathode ray tube (CRT) having a display screen with a phosphor coating on its inner surface, a surface coating disposed on the display screen's outer surface affords improved color purity, or contrast, by reducing overlap in the color spectrum between two adjacent primary colors, i.e., between red and green and/or between green and blue. An organic dye is added to either an inner antistatic layer or an outer antireflective layer of an antireflective/antistatic outer coating on the display screen, where both of the aforementioned layers contain silane. The dye functions as a color filter absorbing only light within the frequency range between adjacent primary colors, such as between the red and green color phosphors, i.e., in the range of 460-500 nm, and/or between the green and blue color phosphors, i.e., in the range of 560-600 nm. A silane coupling agent is also added to serve as a binding agent bridging the organic dye and silane together.

  • Patent number: 5430963
Abstract: A steam iron is provided with a vaporization chamber, an electric heater, a steam emitting chamber and a soleplate, which are made integrally. The vaporization chamber is provided therein with a pressure accumulating container for stabilizing and rectifying the pressure of steam before the steam is emitted onto the material or garment being pressed. The vaporization chamber and the steam emitting chamber are provided respectively with a detachable cover so that the vaporization chamber and the steam emitting chamber can be cleaned and washed easily for removing the impurities clogging the steam emitting holes.

  • Patent number: 5426214
Abstract: Propylene glycol monomethyl ether butyrates and their isomers are obtained by the esterification of propylene glycol monomethyl ether or its isomer with iso-butyric or n-butyric acid at an elevated temperature above 80.degree. C. in the presence of acidic catalyst and azeotropic agent. These compounds are rectified for removing acid residue and moisture in order to yield the desirable product having high purity.

  • Patent number: 5328350
Abstract: Disclosed is a thermoplastics molding device including two lateral molding chambers separated by a form setting chamber within a casing, a plurality of mold carriers respectively and horizontally supported on horizontal supports in each molding chamber and the form setting chamber at different elevations, reciprocating mechanisms respectively disposed in the molding chambers and the form setting chamber at the bottom and controlled to move the mold carriers in either chamber toward a top stop for permitting the mold carriers with molding dies thereon to be closely attached in a stack; and a shifting mechanism controlled to move molding dies from the mold carriers in either molding chamber to the mold carriers in the form setting chamber for quick setting of the moldings shaped in respective molding dies.

  • Patent number: 5301333
Abstract: An inventive arbiter controls access to a resource in a high speed computer or telecommunications network. The arbiter is capable of performing round-robin scheduling for N requests with P possible priority levels with a sublinear time complexity. The high arbitration speed is achieved through use of a tree structure with a token distribution system for implementing the round-robin scheduling policy.

  • Patent number: 5191578
Abstract: A packet parallel interconnection network for routing packets in parallel form comprises a three-dimensional space domain switch which interconnects a plurality of time domain switches in the form of multiple two level bus systems with separate data and control paths. The space domain switch comprises one control plane and a plurality of data switching planes such that the i.sup.th data switching plane routes the i.sup.th data slice of a packet. The control plane and the data switching planes comprise output buffered crosspoint switches. The control plane processes address information in the packets to be routed and broadcasts routing information to the data switching planes to control the routing of data slices by the data switching planes. It is a significant advantage of the time and space domain switches that decoupled control and data paths provide for overlapped control processing and data routing.
