  • Publication number: 20100199588
Abstract: A high strength low density panel. The panel is formed of sections. Each section will preferably have the shape of a cuboid or a prism. At least one face of each section is provided with a buttress. The sections are preferably inverted relative to each other. The sections are configured so that they share sidewalls with each adjacent section, which creates a series of braces extending across the panel. The prismatic sections are paired to form cuboids. These cuboids have a diagonal internal wall. The internal walls of the cuboids align in the panel to create braces that extend across the panel at an angle to the other braces. Finally, all of the buttresses are configured so that the buttress of adjacent and cater-corner sections meet their respective common section corners at substantially the same point.

  • Publication number: 20100009119
Abstract: A high strength low density multi-purpose panel. The preferred panel is made of a plurality of sections, organized into rows and columns, and each preferably including two voids. The voids are preferably triangular in cross-section and may be rounded at their apex and corners. Solid strips of material, extending between opposite corners and between the faces of each section, intersect at the center of each face, resulting in an X-shaped cross in each section. Each section is rotated ninety degrees with respect to each adjacent section. Each section shares sides with four adjacent sections and corners with four cater-corned sections. The common sides create perpendicular sets of parallel braces running the panel's length and width. The shared corners align and join the X-shaped cross braces with the X-shaped cross braces of their cater-cornered neighbors, creating diagonal braces that run across the entire panel.

  • Patent number: 7396252
Abstract: A device or apparatus that reduces the number of utility pole breakages occurring during severe weather events and facilitates quicker and more cost efficient repair of downed utility lines. The device secures utility lines such as power service lines to utility poles during normal operating conditions, but allow the lines to break free of the poles when severely stressed. This breakaway feature prevents the utility pole from breaking under high stress conditions such as storm damage, ice accumulation, felled trees and other unexpected emergency situations. Furthermore, the device allows for quick and efficient repair of downed power lines, thereby reducing the man hours and equipment necessary for repair. By protecting the utility pole, utility companies will realize significant cost savings by not having to replace the pole and, in some cases, having to replace expensive transformers.

  • Patent number: 7297014
Abstract: An engagement system having a spring lock design to initially attach the two halves of the system together. After which the use of a multi start Acme lead screw provides a, consistent, low torque means of engagement. Although the engager requires the use of lubrication, to be applied initially, the lube is contained in a sealed environment. This eliminates the risk of contamination to electrical components and eliminates the need to apply additional lube during the products life. Because the present invention allows the ACME threads to be “meshed” at all times, it also eliminates the possibly of cross-threading.

  • Publication number: 20050058771
Abstract: A method of applying paste to an electronic circuit board substrate containing via openings comprises providing over the substrate a mask having openings therein for lines and openings corresponding to the substrate via openings, and providing a roller having a surface adjacent the roller. Paste is then applied either to the mask or to a side of the surface facing the mask. The method then includes rolling the roller and the surface over the mask and flowing the paste into the openings in the mask without substantially sliding the roller and surface over the mask. In the preferred embodiment, paste is applied to a side of the surface facing the mask and the surface containing the paste is rolled over the mask. The surface may be attached to the roller. More preferably, the surface is on a film strip, separate from the roller, disposed between the roller and the substrate.

  • Patent number: 6844729
Abstract: A method of using nuclear spectroscopy measurements acquired while drilling a subsurface formation including: measuring indicators of a plurality of absolute or relative formation elemental concentrations; processing the measurements to determine a petrophysical parameter associated with the subsurface formation while drilling, and using the petrophysical parameter to determine a drilling parameter. The petrophysical parameter may include, for instance, the permeability of the subsurface formation and the drilling parameter may include, for instance, a change in the orientation of a directional drilling assembly or the point at which to stop drilling. The invention further involves an apparatus adapted to carry out the inventive method.
