  • Patent number: 6495251
Abstract: A layer for protecting an underlying functional coating stack for example a single silver layer or double silver layer Low-E coating stack includes silicon oxynitride or silicon aluminum oxynitride layer. The protective film may have a uniform composition throughout its thickness i.e. homogeneous protective layer, a constantly increasing or decreasing index of infraction throughout its thickness i.e. a graded protective layer, or a combination of all or some of the foregoing i.e. a non-homogeneous protective layer. The graded and non-homogeneous layers may have an outer surface of silicon nitride, silicon aluminum nitride, silicon dioxide, silicon oxynitride or silicon aluminum oxynitride. The protective layer of the invention may be the last layer deposited on the functional coating stack or may have a film deposited thereon.

  • Publication number: 20020128122
Abstract: A compact exercise device includes a pair of crank arms pivotably supported on a frame for rotation about a pivot axis. Each crank arm engages a respective intermediate link at its first end. A second end of each intermediate link travels on a guide member so that as the crank arms rotates, the first end of each intermediate link traces an arcuate path, and the second end of each intermediate link traces a reciprocating path. The device includes a pair of foot links, each foot link is coupled, through a first end thereof, to a respective one of said intermediate links at a point between the first and second ends thereof; a second end of each foot link engages another guide member which directs it along a preselected path of travel, as the intermediate link is moved by the crank arm. The device provides a range of foot and leg motion simulating a natural running and stepping action.

  • Patent number: 6398695
Abstract: An exercise device includes a frame having a pair of crank arms pivotally supported thereupon. Each crank arms engages a drive link, and each drive link engages a guide member. A foot link is pivotally connected to each guide member, and a control link pivotally connects each foot link to a drive link. In operation, the drive links and crank arms cooperate to cause the reciprocal motion of the guide members, and the control link operates to vary the angle between each foot link and its associate guide member as that guide member reciprocates. The apparatus provides a very natural running and stepping action for a user who is positioned on the foot links.

  • Patent number: 6045487
Abstract: An exercise apparatus includes a set of guide links pivotally supported thereupon. Each guide link supports a foot link at one end thereof. A control member engages each foot link and the apparatus also includes a reciprocating assembly which engages and reciprocates the control members so as to move the associated foot links up and down as the guide links pivot back and forth. This produces an overall elliptical motion in each of the foot links.

  • Patent number: 5911649
Abstract: An exercise device includes a frame having a set of guide links pivotally supported thereupon. Each guide link supports a foot engaging link at one end thereof. The guide links are reciprocated back and forth by a set of intermediate links which engage a set of cranks which rotate about a second pivot point. A control link joins the foot link to the intermediate link and operates to vary the angle between the guide links and the foot links, as the guide links reciprocate. This device provides a very natural running and stepping action for a user who is positioned on the foot links.

  • Patent number: 5821001
Abstract: Multilayer high transmittance, low emissivity coatings on transparent substrates feature a special antireflective base film of at least two parts on the substrate-near side of a metallic, reflective film. A first of the two parts is in contact with the metallic film. This first film-part has crystalline properties for causing the metallic film to deposit in a low resistivity configuration. The second of the two film-parts supports the first part and is preferably amorphous. Coated articles of the invention also feature, in combination with the above-mentioned base film or independently thereof, a newly discovered, particularly advantageous subrange of thicker primer films for coated glass that can be thermally processed for tempering, heat strengthening, or bending.

  • Patent number: 5755642
Abstract: An exercise device includes a frame which supports a pair of foot links so that a first end of each foot link is pivotably coupled to the frame for motion about an arcuate path. A guide which is supported by the frame engages each foot link and directs a second end of each foot link along a closed, curved, generally teardrop shaped path of travel. This combination of motions defined by the foot link provides a natural running and stepping motion in which the heel of a user's foot initially rises faster than the toe as the foot begins to move forward and subsequently falls faster than the toe as the foot begins to move backward.

  • Patent number: 5676603
Abstract: A tracking device for a golf club, which requires no electrical power source, is comprised of a body of fiberoptic material which is affixed to an exterior surface of the golf club. The fiberoptic material gathers ambient light along its length, and directs that light, through internal reflection, so as to cause it to exit at an end. The illumination provides a bright spot on the head of the golf club which traces the path of the moving club. The fiberoptic material may include a fluorescent dopant which absorbs light of short wavelength and converts that absorbed light to emitted light of a longer wavelength. Use of the fluorescent dopant enhances the intensity of the light emitted from the device.
