    Abstract: Method and a device for automatic selection of a better starting gear in a vehicle, including the steps of engaging a first starting gear, on driver demand controlling propulsion torque as to attempt to achieve a first take off, if the first starting gear is too high interrupting the first take off and automatically braking the vehicle, engaging a second adapted starting gear which is a lower gear compared to the first starting gear, controlling propulsion torque as to attempt to achieve a second vehicle take off, and if the second vehicle take off attempt results in a transmitting of torque to driven wheels of the vehicle being enough as to perform a take off then stop braking the vehicle. An incorrectly selected starting gear can thus be automatically changed. The starting gear change can be performed in an uphill situation.

Voltages and/or impedances are measured over one or several electrode configurations. Based on the measured voltages and/or impedances, noise parameters are calculated, which are compared with reference values to detect the presence of noise. In another aspect of the invention, at least two different electrode configurations with different noise pick-up areas are used in the measurement. Relations between the noise parameters of the at least two vectors are calculated and compared with reference relations to detect the presence of noise.

The method and apparatus have all of the abilities of standard wideband signal collection systems. Secondly the method and apparatus are able to automatically, and extremely quickly, control multiple VCO's in a finely coordinated tuning process. Thirdly, the method and apparatus still have very good phase noise performance, even though it has hyper fast tuning speeds. Fourthly, the preferred method and apparatus pipeline the digitization and tuning phases of the collection process.

    Abstract: Method and Apparatus to Perform Reactive Jamming While Simultaneously Avoiding Friendly Pseudo-Random Frequency Hopping Communications is disclosed. The system provides an enhancement to surgical reactive jammers that combines near-real-time jamming capability with the additional feature of allowing tactical communications. The jammer includes a synchronization subsystem that synchronizes jammer lockout frequencies with those frequencies being hopped to by units that are members of a friendly communications network. The synchronization subsystem is coordinated with, and therefore tied to the time-synchronized cryptography of the friendly communications net. As a result, the jammer will be aware, on a real-time basis, which frequency the friendly communications network will next be hopping to. The jammer's awareness of these future frequencies will allow those frequencies to be “locked out” of the jammer's transmission band dynamically.

The method and apparatus have the abilities stated in the previous U.S. patent application Ser. No. 11/332,801 filed by this author, to do moving detection of weak signals, even in dense urban environments. Secondly, the method and apparatus includes additional antennas and hardware boards, in order to verify authenticity of detected targets. Thirdly, the method and apparatus include appropriate DSP algorithms loaded to program the mission. Fourthly, the method and apparatus are enabled to accurately determine the tangential distance of the target from me vehicles centerline. Finally, the method and apparatus provide the ability to continually discard false targets based upon the information provided by these approaches.

The system will clandestinely detect the presence and location of RCIED's along roadways in real time. This “RCIED Street Sweeper” system consequently allows its users to remove the explosive devices, pre-detonate them, or simply avoid the location so that the weapons cannot be used against a convoy or other important target. The system has the abilities (disclosed in U.S. patent application Ser. No. 10/829,858) to conduct fast wideband scanning of the RF spectrum looking for ambient RF signals as well as RCIED leakage signals. Furthermore the system has the ability to correlate the received leakage signals with the ambient RF signal environment, in order to verify authenticity. Still further, the system has the ability to continually mark and record the precise map location where each of those RF spectrum measurements emanated, including the relative distances between them.
