  • Publication number: 20070287395
Abstract: Systems and methods of collecting intelligence provide an intelligence system having a front-end, a post-processing stage and a direction-finding stage. The front-end may generate digital data based on received RF signals, where the post-processing stage may process the digital data. The direction finding stage is able to prevent the post-processing stage from processing portions of the digital data that correspond to RF signals arriving from a direction other than a pre-determined direction. In one embodiment, the front end collects the RF signals in a plurality of parallel channels.

  • Publication number: 20070173263
Abstract: Sensitive operations areas need accurate, efficient, and effective tools to monitor any suspicious transmissions from specified sub-areas. These specific areas to be monitored can be as small as an individual room in a building. A fundamental change in RF detection and monitoring efficiency is needed for the modem organization to achieve and maintain this level of precision for electronic security in its area of operations. It is an object of the present invention to provide just such a method to automatically detect communications signals in near real time, from any selectable sub-area of a compound. Such a system would greatly enhance the operational capabilities of the twenty-first century organization by providing a real-time capability to secure radio communications in and around a compound. The system should have real time direction-finding methods, such as those espoused by the invention of application Ser. No. 10/912,976.

  • Patent number: 7242351
Abstract: A Real-time Emitter Locating (EL) System and Method is disclosed. The system provides a technique for taking in data sets (lines of bearing) from DF receivers and characterizing those signals with their respective probabilities of error. Then using a unique method, the preferred system applies a recursive processing technique to this continuous stream of data, displaying transmitter positions with significantly less uncertainty. Furthermore, the preferred system is able to perform these functions in real-time. The system is further capable of being fully automated to reduce the processing time and reduce the necessity of human intervention. Still further, in an alternative embodiment of the present invention the system can be remotely controlled over a communications network whereby collected locating data from a single DF set, or alternatively from more than one DF sets can be combined to arrive at estimated positions for a transmitter.

  • Patent number: 7226389
Abstract: Method and arrangement for facilitating hill-starting of a stationary motor vehicle. The method includes applying at least one braking device using a brake pedal and estimating the traveling resistance of the vehicle using a control unit (30). The control unit (30) determines a starting gear, a starting torque and a starting speed with regard to the estimated traveling resistance. The driver releases the brake pedal and the brakes are kept applied for a certain time. The driver operates an accelerator pedal to a position at least corresponding to the minimum transmitted torque and a clutch device (2) for a gearbox (3) is activated by the control unit (30) when the starting speed has been achieved. The control unit (30) releases the braking devices as a function of the increase in the transmitted driving torque of the clutch.

  • Publication number: 20070116093
Abstract: A Method and Apparatus to Perform Surgical Reactive Jamming while Maintaining Simultaneous Tactical Communications is disclosed. The system provides an enhancement to surgical reactive jammers that combines near-real-time jamming capability with the additional feature of allowing tactical communications. The tactical communications transmissions are compressed and packetized such that they can be broken up and transmitted during the jamming system's look-through periods. This approach facilitates listening during these look-through periods (not only for EW emitters, but also for friendly communications signals). The system should allows for talk during these look-through periods (“talk-through” periods). Such a system is unique in that it can automatically calculate the best frequency for a surgical reactive jammer to use against enemy targets as well as providing a fully secure tactical communications link which is synchronized with other units in the field.

  • Publication number: 20060276136
Abstract: A Method and System for Optimizing Decibel Data Conversion. This invention provides an ability to convert linear signals into decibel units via digital logic circuitry. The resultant system can present information to users in real-time. This is made possible by performing an approximation function that is simple enough to be implemented directly in digital hardware, rather than through software executed by massive computing resources. An exemplary application for this technology is as a component of a surgical reactive electronic jamming system. This invention allows a surgical reactive jammer to determine precisely the correct jamming thresholds to apply in real-time. It allows signal surveillance equipment to survey the spectrum and display those results in dBm with far more efficiency than before. Finally, it enables a whole industry of communications related devices that need to do real time decibel conversion.

  • Patent number: 7126979
Abstract: The system and method autonomously and selectively jams frequency-hopping signals in near real-time by incorporating a fundamental change in the detection and reaction technology, to provide a reaction time that is short enough, within milliseconds or less, to capture and then jam even the fastest frequency hopping radios in use today, without relying on prior art methods of using standard CPU driven technology. The system automatically determines if detected signal(s) should be jammed, and subsequently to automatically end extremely quickly activates the jamming transmitter on the frequency-hopper transmitter's frequency. Finally, the system provides a programmable user interface so that operators can set up the system to act autonomously as intended, such that operator intervention is unnecessary when the system is placed in jamming operation mode.

  • Publication number: 20060212929
Abstract: Systems and methods of collecting intelligence provide a local intelligence system having a front end, a post-processing stage and a geolocation module. The front end may generate digital data based on received RS signals, where the post processing stage may process the digital data. The geolocation module is able to prevent the post processing stage from processing a first portion of the digital data that corresponds to RS signals originating from a geographic location other than a predetermined geographic location. In one embodiment, the geolocation module uses remote geolocation data and local geolocation data.

  • Patent number: 7099369
Abstract: A Method and Apparatus for Surgical High-speed Follower Jamming Based on Selectable Target Direction is disclosed. The system and method of the present invention automatically detects and jams sudden, short duration communications signals in near real time, in a compass direction selected by the user on the battlefield. Such a system is unique in the number and type of input parameters it uses to allow the operator to tailor its jamming results. The system solves the efficiency, fratricide, and latency issues of prior art systems and greatly enhances the operational capabilities of the modern military unit by allowing the unit to kill all enemy transmitters in any specified sector of the battlefield. The system embodies the addition of real time direction-finding methods to the invention of application Ser. No. 10/912,976.

  • Patent number: 7095779
Abstract: A Method and Apparatus for Automatic Jammer Frequency Control of Surgical Reactive Jammers is disclosed. The system and method to autonomously and selectively jam frequency-hopping signals in near real-time. The system has the ability to automatically detect short duration signals (such as those output from frequency hoppers), to automatically determine if detected signal(s) should be jammed, and subsequently to automatically and extremely quickly activate the jamming transmitter on the frequency-hopper transmitter's frequency. Furthermore, the system improves upon the FFT-based front-end system by incorporating a module that automatically and iteratively comparing the digital FFT results to the analog RF signal to the arrive at a total frequency offset between the FFT results and the analog signal so that the transmitted jamming signal will be more accurately applied on the desired or target frequency.

  • Publication number: 20060164283
Abstract: A Method, System and Apparatus for Maximizing a Jammer's Time and Power on Target is disclosed. System and method of the present invention provide an enhanced and more efficient jamming system that can address multiple simultaneous targets, such that the time-on-targets are maximized given a fixed amount of available system power. Such an enhanced surgical reactive jamming system allows users to more intelligently and efficiently address all targets that suddenly appear, without having to replicate more jamming system hardware which drastically raises the total overall costs. The system has the ability to do fast wideband scanning of the RF spectrum looking for RF signals such as those emitted by frequency hoppers and RCIED's, and then jam them instantaneously.
