  • Publication number: 20100250333
Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for determining optimal sales rebate rates. Historical data, including sales data, price data, and rebate data are received, along with ongoing current data from current rebate transactions. Changes across the spectrum of data are determined and calculations are used to obtain an optimal sales rebate rate for one of more products or services utilizing statistical models, including but not limited to, a linear rebate rate model and a logarithmic-linear rebate rate model for one or more products or services. A mathematical analysis determines the appropriate model to use to obtain the optimal sales rebate rate. The optimal sales rebate rate may be applied to computing or non-computing environments, in whole or as a combination of both computing and non-computing environments.

  • Publication number: 20100235366
Abstract: A method and system of file aggregation is provided herein. Input is received in the form of a user specific temporal range, and is compared to a value within a temporal metadata field of a data file to determine an appropriate data set within which to compile the data file for presentation. In this way, data files within a particular data set may be selectively presented to a user. For example, if a user begins taking photos at 11 p.m. and continues until 2 a.m. the next day, the user may specify the photos taken between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. are to be compiled into a single data set for presentation, as opposed to presenting the photos in data sets corresponding to different days.

  • Publication number: 20100139149
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fish strike signal that can selectively be placed in a storage position, a ready position or a deployed position. The signal has a main body with a storage ledge, a retainer and a pocket. A trigger is provided having a notch for engaging a segment of fishing line and having a kick-out post for deploying a signal. The kick-out post can be held with a pocket in the ready position. Rotation of the trigger caused by a strike forces the post from the pocket and causes the wire of the signal to clear a retainer on the side of the main body. A tension assembly is provided for adjusting the amount of force that is required to rotate the trigger. The post and a ledge holds the signal in place and the tensioner can be used to lock the signal in the storage position.

  • Publication number: 20090328223
Abstract: Evaluating a threat model for structural validity and descriptive completeness. A threat modeling application provides a progress factor or other overall score associated with the structural validity and descriptive completeness of the threat model being evaluated. The structural validity is evaluated based on a data flow diagram associated with the threat model. The descriptive completeness is evaluated by reviewing descriptions of threat types in the threat model. The progress factor encourages modelers to provide effective models to a model reviewer, thus saving time for the model reviewer.

  • Publication number: 20090327943
Abstract: Identifying threats to an information system by analyzing a structural representation of the information system. In some embodiments, a data flow diagram corresponding to the information system is analyzed based on predefined criteria. Potential threats to elements of the data flow diagram are identified based on the predefined criteria. The threats are prioritized and provided to a user for further testing. In an embodiment, the user performs fuzz testing of application programs in the information system based on the prioritized threats.

  • Publication number: 20090310820
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for tracking a target imaged in video footage. The target may, for example, be a person moving through a crowd The method comprises the steps of: identifying a target in a first frame; generating a population of sub-templates by sampling from a template area defined around the target position; and searching for instances of the sub-templates in a second frame so as to locate the target in the second frame. Sub-templates whose instances are not consistent with the new target position are removed from the population and replaced by newly sampled sub-templates. The method can then be repeated so as to find the target in further frames. It can be implemented in a system comprising video imaging means, such as a CCTV camera, and processing means operable to carry out the method.

  • Patent number: 7632088
Abstract: Systems and methods for forming patterns and structures in target materials are described. The method produces a pattern or structure in a target material by contacting a stamp including one or more features with a target material using a normal load sufficient for keeping the one or more features in contact with the target material, and providing a cyclic shear force in an amount sufficient to extrude the target material and form a negative relief of the one more features in the target material. The systems and methods can be used to produce a variety of articles including, but not limited to, semiconductor integrated electrical circuits, integrated optical, magnetic, mechanical circuits and microdevices.

  • Patent number: 7617881
Abstract: An articulated dozer with a four point independent suspension system between a chassis and two support frames is described. The chassis includes a front chassis portion and a rear chassis portion connected by an articulation joint. The vehicle is compactly arrange so that the chassis and the two support frames fit between the track systems supporting and propelling the vehicle. Additionally, the engine is arranged near the articulation joint and lower than the top of the track systems for improved view and visibility. The cab is arranged over the track systems at the front of the vehicle for an optimal view of the blade.

  • Patent number: 7581598
Abstract: An articulated loader has an articulated chassis and corresponding A-frames. The points of the A-frames face each other. The articulated chassis includes a front portion and a rear portion. Likewise, there is a front or first A-frame and a rear or second A-frame. The A-frames are connected to the overall chassis at points close to but offset from the point of vehicle articulation via ball joints and via hydraulic suspension cylinders toward the wider portions of the “A”s. The tracks are independently suspended. The C-frame and blade are mounted to the first A-frame while the controlling cylinders are mounted to the front chassis portion. This allows the blade to follow the tracks or ground and yet stabilize its motion.

Likewise, there is a front or first A-frame and a rear or second A-frame. The A-frames are connected to the overall chassis at points close to but offset from the point of vehicle articulation via ball joints and via hydraulic suspension cylinders toward the wider portions of the “A”s. The vehicle is propelled along the ground by tracks that are independently suspended. The A-frames are of approximate equal length along the axis of the vehicle and the ball joints are located as close as practical to the articulation joint. Thus, any vertical forces at the ball joints due to variations in tractive efforts for the vehicle tend to be equal and opposite in direction and to, therefore, minimize any chassis height variations.

  • Publication number: 20080310426
Abstract: A method for estimating a system state, for example an aircraft trajectory, in a decentralised network having a plurality of nodes, each node having means for receiving and sending information and means for processing information, and each node being connected to neighbouring nodes of the network, the method comprising, at each node: (i) maintaining a set of particles and associated weights, which represent an estimate of the system state, (ii) representing the estimated system state as a mixture of Gaussian distributions in a channel filter, and communicating the mixture to neighbouring nodes, and (iii) a neighbouring node receiving the mixture in a channel filter that contains a similar Gaussian representation of its own estimate of system state, and dividing the incoming mixture by the existing mixture, for updating the estimate of the system state that is maintained at the node.
