    Abstract: Methods and apparatus for driving discharge lamps are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method for driving a discharge lamp includes generating a switching signal to drive a discharge lamp, monitoring a working status of the discharge lamp, and determining whether the discharge lamp is operating abnormally based at least in part on the monitored working status. The method also includes decreasing a duty cycle of the switching signal when the discharge lamp is determined to operate abnormally.

The method comprises: sensing by a gateway apparatus a relay request slot on a downlink common control channel of the wide area network; transmitting by a wireless terminal a relay request signal requesting to relay a data packet to be transmitted, in the relay request slot on the downlink common control channel; and if the relay request signal from the wireless terminal is sensed in the relay request slot, establishing by the gateway apparatus a connection with the wireless terminal in a distributed network environment.

In one embodiment of the handover processing method, a source eNB selects a target eNB from neighboring eNBs that can accept a handover request from a mobile terminal, and notifies a selection result to the mobile terminal; if handover information corresponding to the mobile terminal is received by an neighboring eNB that can accept the handover request of the mobile terminal within a preset handover waiting time, the neighboring eNB determines that it is a target eNB and cooperates with the mobile terminal to perform a handover; otherwise, the neighboring eNB determines that it is a prepared eNB and reduces its resources reserved for the mobile terminal. The present invention can effectively improve the successful handover probability.

    Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention includes a medium access control method in a wireless distributed network which comprises the steps of: transmitting a CTS packet after delaying for an SIFS time interval, when a node in the network receives a RTS packet addressed to the node; detecting a channel and timing; if the channel is detected in idle within a time interval of the clearing threshold after the completion of the CTS packet transmission, then transmitting a clearing packet after the time interval of the clearing threshold is elapsed; resetting their current network allocation vectors of all the nodes receiving the clearance packet to zero. The techniques described herein resolve a problem of unnecessary setting of the network allocation vectors due to the transmission failure of the CTS. The throughput and time delay of the wireless system is improved by initiating information for clearing network allocation vectors by a receiver.
