  • Patent number: 8958357
Abstract: Various methods for providing relay node priority are provided. One example method includes generating a relay node access message for initiating an access procedure to establish a connection between a relay node and a donor cell. The relay node access message may be generated in accordance with an access priority scheme. The access priority scheme may be defined such that a higher priority is allocated to the relay node access message than a user device access message for initiating the access procedure to establish a direct connection between the user device and the donor cell. The example method may also include providing for transmission of the relay node access message in accordance with the access priority scheme. Similar and related example methods and example apparatuses are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8958358
Abstract: It is described a mobile network, in particular an LTE network, including a relay node and a base station. The relay node is adapted for receiving signals from the base station during timeslots of a first type and for transmitting signals to a connected user equipment during timeslots of a second type differing from the first type of timeslots. The base station is adapted for transmitting signals to the relay node during timeslots of the first type and for sending information to the relay node indicating a change of the timeslot type. The relay node is further adapted for changing the timeslot type according to the received information.

  • Patent number: 8948751
Abstract: Improved systems and techniques for controlling access to network resources. A base station broadcasts extended access barring (EAB) and access class barring (ACB) information. Upon a determination by a user equipment that the user equipment requires service from the base station, the user equipment determines its EAB category and call type. The user equipment receives the EAB and ACB information broadcast by the base station and determines if it is subject to EAB based on its EAB category. If the user equipment is not subject to EAB, the user equipment determines if its call type is subject to ACB and, if the call type is subject to ACB, applies access class barring based on its call type.

  • Patent number: 8767614
Abstract: A buffer information report can be sent to a system station from a node for relaying communications between at least one user station and the system station. The report is generated based on a report format used for uplink reporting by a user station. An indication is also sent to the system station that the node for relaying has different buffering capabilities than the user station. At the system station the buffering capabilities of the node for relaying can be determined based on the buffer information report and the indication. Communications between the system station and the node for relaying can then be controlled accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20140120916
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for controlling a handover of a device communicating via coexisting radios separated in time. It is determined whether to continue the communications via the coexisting radios during the handover and information is signaled to the device regarding communications via the coexisting radios based on the determination. The determination can include negotiations between a source and a target station. The source and/or the target station may determine whether to continue the communications via the coexisting radios during the handover, and selectively signaling information regarding communications during the handover via the coexisting radios based on the determination. The device, upon receiving signaling containing information whether to continue the communications via the coexisting radios during handover, processes the handover and selectively communicates via at least one of the coexisting radios during the handover based on the information.
