  • Publication number: 20190268201
Abstract: A link adaptation method is disclosed of a network node adapted to operate in concurrent association with one or more orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) wireless communication devices using OFDMA signaling, and a non-OFDMA wireless communication device using non-OFDMA signaling. The non-OFDMA signaling has a bandwidth that is smaller than a maximum bandwidth of the OFDMA signaling. The method comprises excluding one or more sub-carriers from the OFDMA signaling to create a frequency gap and determining a center frequency of the non-OFDMA signaling such that the center frequency is within the frequency gap. The method also comprises selecting a modulation and coding scheme to be used for the OFDMA signaling based on a first signal-to-interference value. In the first signal-to-interference value, the non-OFDMA signaling acts as interference to the OFDMA signaling. Corresponding computer program product, arrangement and network node are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20190268849
Abstract: In one aspect, a transmitting device forms an OFDM signal comprising a plurality of OFDM symbols and carrying user data targeted to a main transceiver of one or more receiving devices. The transmitting device modulates the OFDM signal with a wake-up signature (WUS) targeted to awake-up receiver (WUR) of a receiving device other than the one or more receiving devices. The modulating is performed so as to superimpose a modulation of signal power on the OFDM signal, the resulting variations in signal power conveying the wake-up signature. The modulated OFDM signal is transmitted, where a receiving device receives the OFDM at its WUR. The receiving device detect a WUS modulated in the OFDM signal that is targeted to a wake-up receiver of a receiving device other than the one or more receiving devices. The receiving device wakes up its main transceiver in response to the detecting.

  • Publication number: 20190223105
Abstract: A mobile device that comprises a main receiver and a wake-up receiver is operated by periodically attempting to receive a first signal that is configured for receipt by the wake-up receiver. For each attempt, a detection result is generated that indicates whether the first signal was received with a signal quality that satisfies a predetermined minimum quality criterion. One or more of the detection results are used as a basis for deciding whether or not the wake-up receiver is within range of an access point. An operation of the mobile device is adjusted in response to a decision that the wake-up receiver is not within range of the access point.

  • Publication number: 20190124658
Abstract: An UL carrier frequency or a downlink carrier frequency is adapted as a consequence of a determination that there is a difference in link budgets between uplink and downlink. Since a downlink provides a geographical coverage that is of a certain size, a lesser reliability of the uplink has a consequence that a mobile terminal may not be able to communicate when located far from a network node that transmits the downlink but still within the geographical coverage area of the downlink. Such drawbacks of present day wireless communication systems can be at least mitigated by embodiments of the present disclosure.
