  • Patent number: 6332950
Abstract: A method in connection with the pretreatment of comminuted fibrous material intended for chemical cellulose pulp production. The fibrous material is fed through a low pressure system that has a gas phase part followed by a liquid phase part. The liquid phase part includes a low pressure circulation where a circulating liquid is withdrawn from the fibrous material and recirculated back to the fibrous material in an upstream position. The fibrous material is sluiced into a high pressure system that has a liquid phase transfer part operatively connected to a digester. A hot process liquid and/or the circulating liquid are evaporatively cooled by being allowed to flash within the low pressure system.

  • Patent number: 6280567
Abstract: The invention relates to a process system and a method for preliminary treatment of disintegrated cellulose-containing material, preferably wood chips, prior to pulp digestion. The process system and the method according to the invention make use of a process vessel intended to function both as a so-called chip bin and as a pre-impregnation vessel. The characteristics of the invention are that a sloping steaming vessel is arranged downstream of the process vessel for the purpose of separating an excess of pre-impregnation liquid from the pre-impregnated cellulose-containing material, that the sloping steaming vessel is arranged for supplying steaming vapor which preferably has been generated by flashing of extraction liquor from a pulp digester, and that the sloping steaming vessel is connected to a chip chute communicating with a condenser for connection to a system for managing foul-smelling process gases.

  • Patent number: 6254723
Abstract: In a single-vessel system for continuous cooking of kraft pulp, chips and liquor are conveyed from a high pressure feeder in a transfer line to a first end of a digester. A part of the liquor is separated from the chips that are withdrawn from an outlet defined in an upper part of the digester and conveyed in a return line to the high pressure feeder. A constituent flow of liquor is led from the return line and heated and fed via one or more inlets into the digester at a location that is downstream of the outlet for the return line.

  • Patent number: 6120646
Abstract: A feeding system for feeding comminuted cellulose containing material and liquid to a continuously operating treatment vessel. The feeding system comprises a chute, operating at a first pressure, a high pressure feeder sluices the material to a second pressure, that is higher than the first pressure, for further conveyance to the treatment vessel. The high pressure feeder also receives a return liquid flow from the treatment vessel at the second pressure and recirculates a recirculation flow to the chute. The high pressure feeder is in fluid communications, regarding both the liquid and the material, with the recirculation flow when any of the pockets of the high pressure feeder is in a location which corresponds to an outlet for the recirculation flow.
