  • Patent number: 10121056
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for ensuring a desired distribution of images in a multimedia document among different demographic groups. Demographic criteria (e.g., age) is received to form demographic groups of members of an organization. Demographic information along with interests of the members are retrieved. Such member data is analyzed within the constraints of the demographic criteria to generate a statistical distribution of members of the organization that forms an initially desired distribution of content of the multimedia document among the demographic groups of the organization. An indication is then provided to the user regarding whether the current distribution of the content of the multimedia document among the demographic groups of the organization satisfies or does not satisfy the desired distribution of content among the demographic groups. In this manner, the user can ensure a desired distribution of content in the multimedia document among different demographic groups.

  • Patent number: 10120542
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for facilitating access to a resource represented in an image at a later time. A screen capture of an image displayed on a computing device is implemented. Metadata, including the resource location, resource navigation and positional metadata, regarding the source data of the screen capture image is generated. The generated metadata is then embedded into the screen capture image. The screen capture image with the embedded metadata is then transmitted to a different user. By embedding the metadata into the screen capture image, the user receiving the screen capture image will be able to reproduce the state of the source environment when the image was captured using the embedded metadata thereby opening the resource represented in the image.

  • Patent number: 10116607
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for improving social network users' interactions. The content of posts in a thread is analyzed so as to group the posts by topic. The posts directed to a specific topic are then analyzed to determine which users posted an initial post or a comment containing an ongoing question not answered. The users' profiles, liked pages and/or friends' graphs for the users involved in the analyzed posts are analyzed to determine any relationships among the users. Furthermore, past communication patterns and/or liked pages of the users are analyzed to determine the likelihood of responding to posts. The posts in the original thread are split into a new thread containing the group(s) of posts directed to a topic(s) having a group of users who would most likely participate in the new thread, where the group of users is selected based on the analysis discussed above.

  • Publication number: 20180270248
Abstract: Controlling access to a secure resource. Data relating to social media history information, demographic information, and psychometric information regarding a user having access to a secure resource is mined by a computer system. Mined data that indicates a potential security risk that meets a predefined security criteria with respect to the secure resource is identified by the computer system. A security risk level based on the identified data is determined. A level of access to the secure resource by the user computing device is set, based on one or more predetermined threshold values that are met, in response to a determination regarding such. Access is granted to the secure resource in accordance with the set level of access, in response to receiving a request to access the secure resource by the computer system.

  • Publication number: 20180262357
Abstract: Approaches presented herein enable resuming a context for a group of electronic devices based on a prior activity of the group members. Specifically, a current context of a user electronic device is collected at a conclusion of a first collaboration session. One or more participant electronic devices associated with the user electronic device are identified, either by being in a same location or virtually connected. A current context of each of the identified participant electronic devices is collected. The context of the user electronic device and each of the participant electronic devices are stored in a context database. The current context of the user electronic device and each of the participant electronic devices are resumed at a beginning of a second collaboration session when the user electronic device is resumed (e.g., powered on or brought out of “sleep” mode).

  • Patent number: 10073886
Abstract: Aspects relate to improving search results based on a search history. Searches performed by a user are monitored to collect search data. The search data is categorized according to search terms, search sites, and result satisfactions to form the search history. A search request that includes one or more search terms related to at least one of the search terms in the search history is received. A predicted satisfaction level of the user with results of the received search request is estimated based on contents of the received search request and the search history. The search request is modified to increase the predicted satisfaction level of the user with results of the received search request. The modifying is based on contents of the received search request and the search history. A search is performed based on the modified search request.

  • Patent number: 10061865
Abstract: An approach is provided to determine answer stability in a question answering (QA) system. In the approach, a question submitted to a question answering (QA) system is selected and data pertaining to a candidate answers generated by the QA system are analyzed. The analysis of the data results in a stability characteristic that pertains to the candidate answers. A confidence value associated with the candidate answers is adjusted based on the respective answer's stability characteristic. One or more of the candidate answers are provided to a requestor based on the adjusted confidence values.

  • Publication number: 20180238700
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for verification of a generated route in computer assisted navigation. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for verification of a generated route in computer assisted navigation is provided. The method includes receiving an origin and a destination in a mapping application executing in memory by a processor of a computer and generating a first route in the mapping application from the origin to the destination. The method also includes receiving a waypoint for the first route and determining whether or not the waypoint is proximate to the first route. Finally, the method includes validating the first route only if it is determined that the waypoint is proximate to the first route. In one aspect of the embodiment, the method also can include generating an alternative route to include the waypoint if it is determined that the waypoint is not proximate to the first route.

  • Publication number: 20180165328
Abstract: An approach is provided to correct documents ingested by a question answering (QA) system. A document previously ingested by the QA system is selected. A correction to the selected document is identified from one or more correction sources and the correction is applied to the selected document within the QA system. In one embodiment, the correction source is a non-ingested document, such as a published document or an issued correction. In another embodiment, the correction source is a post in a forum. In this embodiment, a statement in the ingested document is compared with a contradictory statement found in an ingested post of a threaded discussion. The statement and the contradictory statement are evaluated by the QA system. The statement in the ingested document is replaced with the contradictory statement in response to the evaluation revealing that the contradictory statement is correct and that the statement is incorrect.

  • Patent number: 9978090
Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product optimizes shopping for one or more desired items. An identification of a desired item, which is initially available for purchase at a first physical store, is received. An identity of a second shopper, who also wants the desired item and is currently shopping for the desired item, is received. One or more processors then determine a likelihood of the first shopper arriving at the first physical store before the second shopper purchases a last available instance of the desired item in the first physical store. In response to determining that the first shopper will arrive at the first physical store before the last available instance of the desired item has been purchased by the second shopper, the first shopper is provided with an identity of the first physical store.
