  • Publication number: 20160105318
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for facilitating access to a resource represented in an image at a later time. A screen capture of an image displayed on a computing device is implemented. Metadata, including the resource location, resource navigation and positional metadata, regarding the source data of the screen capture image is generated. The generated metadata is then embedded into the screen capture image. The screen capture image with the embedded metadata is then transmitted to a different user. By embedding the metadata into the screen capture image, the user receiving the screen capture image will be able to reproduce the state of the source environment when the image was captured using the embedded metadata thereby opening the resource represented in the image.

  • Patent number: 9300620
Abstract: A method for separating the sharing of topics in social networking. The method includes receiving digital content, for example a web page, from a social network provider using a computer. The method receives data from the social network provider, for example, groups and lists. The method analyzes the topics displayed in the digital content to determine a category for the digital content, for example, work-related or entertainment. The digital content is assigned a category based on a match of the plurality of topics displayed in the digital content. The digital content for the shared topic is then selectively shared with the participants of the groups.

  • Publication number: 20160042429
Abstract: A request is received for a confirmed gift recommendation that is both confirmed as absent from social media content related to a gift recipient and confirmed to have been positively commented on by the gift recipient within a social network. Positive comments about items posted by the gift recipient within the social network are identified. A determination is made that at least one item positively commented on by the gift recipient within the social network is absent from the social media content related to the gift recipient. The request is responded to with the confirmed gift recommendation that includes the determined at least one item positively commented on by the gift recipient within the social network that is also absent from the social media content related to the gift recipient.

  • Publication number: 20160011888
Abstract: At a system configured according to a first configuration, an activity that uses a second configuration is detected. A set of changes is determined, which when applied to the first configuration result in the second configuration. State information of a second activity at the system is saved. The set of changes is applied to the first configuration to operate the system under the second configuration. The activity is performed under the second configuration until completion. A portion of the set of changes is removed from a portion of the second configuration such that the portion of the second configuration reverts to a corresponding portion of the first configuration. The second activity is resumed using the saved state information. The state information is sufficient to resume the second activity after the activity has completed and from a point reached in the second activity before the applying of the set of changes.

  • Publication number: 20150373030
Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for protecting data stored on a mobile device, based upon its location. Data stored on a mobile device is encrypted with a network-stored secret key that is unknown to the user of the mobile device. The secret key is provided directly to the mobile device once the user is authenticated and it has been determined that the mobile device is located within a predetermined geographical area. The provided secret key is then used to decrypt the encrypted data stored on the mobile device such that it can then be accessed by the user. The user is then prevented from accessing the encrypted data when it is determined that the mobile device is no longer located within the predetermined geographical area.

  • Patent number: 9189959
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for providing route guidance to a driver of a vehicle. Based on the current location of the vehicle, the navigation system determines a route to travel from the current location of the vehicle to a destination provided by the driver. The navigation system obtains information (e.g., past driving history of other drivers on the route) which is used to assess whether a super detail mode of operation (provides additional details than traditional GPS-based navigation systems thereby lessening the likelihood that the driver will get lost) should be enacted by the navigation system. The super detail mode of operation may be triggered by the navigation system based on a road condition (e.g., missed turn ratio of route exceeds a threshold) that warrants the super detail mode of operation where such a condition is determined to have occurred using the obtained information discussed above.

  • Publication number: 20150277996
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for system notification of a computing system, is provided. The computer implemented method comprises, detecting, via a sensor, if a user of a computing system is in proximate distance to the computing system is provided. The computer-implemented method further comprises, calculating the user's estimated return time to the computing system, wherein the user's estimated return time to the computing system is based on calendaring information, or system usage pattern of the user of the computing system. The computer-implemented method further comprises intercepting an existing notification of the computing system, wherein the existing notification is intercepted when the user moves away from the computing system. The computer-implemented method further comprises intensifying a new, non-existing notification of the computing system, based on the calculated user's estimated return time, and the detected proximate distance.

  • Patent number: 9146127
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for providing lane guidance to a driver of a vehicle. Based on the current location of the vehicle, the navigation system determines a route to travel from the current location of the vehicle to a destination provided by the driver. The navigation system obtains one or more of the following types of information which is used to determine whether the navigation system should recommend a lane change: past driving patterns of the driver, driver's lane preferences, past driving history of other drivers on the route, external conditions (e.g., weather) and features of the route. The recommendation may be presented to the driver via an audio instruction and/or on a display. In this manner, the navigation system instructs the driver as to which lane in a multi-lane road the user should drive on taking into consideration the user's driving habits and preferences.

  • Publication number: 20150261621
Abstract: Systems and methods of recovering a shared information source can involve identifying a first user of a shared information source in response to detection of a data loss with respect to the shared information source. One or more additional users of the shared information source may be identified based on data associated with the first user. Additionally, the shared information source can be recovered based at least in part on data associated with the one or more additional users.

  • Publication number: 20150227957
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a method, computer program product, and system for splitting credit card transactions. A computer receives a request to complete a credit card transaction from a point of sale device. The computer determines an optimal distribution of the credit card transaction across a plurality of payment sources. The computer divides the credit card transaction into a plurality of smaller credit card transactions, based at least in part on the optimal distribution of the credit card transaction, wherein each of the plurality of smaller credit card transactions corresponds to a payment source of the plurality of payment sources. The computer sends each of the plurality of smaller credit card transactions to the corresponding payment source for approval.

  • Patent number: 9104771
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for providing relevant product reviews to a user. A user's session on a website is monitored to gather information related to reviewing and writing product reviews as well as to buying and browsing habits. The actions performed by the user in connection with the monitored user session are populated in a database. Once populating the database is completed, the personality report of the user, which includes personality traits, is generated using the populated database. Also, a list of reviewers that are favored by the user is generated. By using the personality traits of the user to match reviews of interest as well as providing reviews from those reviewers favored by the user, the user can have more confidence in the usefulness or relevance of these reviews.

  • Publication number: 20150012380
Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product optimizes shopping for one or more desired items. An identification of a desired item, which is initially available for purchase at a first physical store, is received. An identity of a second shopper, who also wants the desired item and is currently shopping for the desired item, is received. One or more processors then determine a likelihood of the first shopper arriving at the first physical store before the second shopper purchases a last available instance of the desired item in the first physical store. In response to determining that the first shopper will arrive at the first physical store before the last available instance of the desired item has been purchased by the second shopper, the first shopper is provided with an identity of the first physical store.
