  • Patent number: 9836190
Abstract: A user interface that displays a number of cards or windows is described where a user can move the cards in a horizontal direction freely. When a card resides in a locked zone, as defined by a user, the card will be able to be manipulated in a vertical direction, while cards that reside in a regular zone will not be able to be moved vertically. In addition, only cards that are in the locked zone can be subjected to a user action such as cutting content from the card, pasting content to the card, enlarging the contents of the card, or shrinking the contents of the card.

  • Patent number: 9626567
Abstract: A method to automatically classify video content retrieved over the Internet and, in particular, to determine whether a candidate video is an instance of a source video. The method begins by sampling static image frames from each of the candidate video and the source video. Based on the sampled static image frames, a set of static image frames in the candidate video that match a corresponding set of static image frames in the source video are then identified. Metadata associated with the sets of matching static image frames are then compared to determine how closely a temporal order of the set of static image frames in the candidate video matches the temporal order of the set of static image frames in the source video. Based on a measure of temporal order match, a classification is then applied to the candidate video to complete the method.

  • Patent number: 9582535
Abstract: The disclosure is related to the idea of tracking user navigation, consumption, and/or behavior and applying analytics to help shape future offerings (customized offerings, up-sells, recommendations, etc.) to a user and to provide reporting data to service providers and studios. Methods and systems of providing viewing recommendations for a user are set forth. This involves collecting usage data related to a session of interaction by the user, processing the user data for the session, and providing feedback regarding the session. The sessions involve multiple stages tracking a user's interactions. These include stages such as an inquiry stage, a results stage, a details stage, a selection stage, and a confirmation stage. Usage data is then mined to indicate the content creator of a media asset regardless of the media asset type.

  • Publication number: 20160328461
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the present invention, during database replication from a source database to a target database, operations applied to the source database are transferred as target operations and applied to the target database. A request from a requestor to idle a specified database object is received during the database replication. In response to receiving the request, transference of the target operations for the specified database object from the source database to the target database is terminated and target operations for the specified database object on the target database are monitored. In response to no target operations being applied to the specified database object on the target database, replication of the specified database object is suspended and the requestor is notified when the idling of the specified database object has completed.

  • Publication number: 20160289288
Abstract: The subject invention pertains to agonist peptides of type I interferons and methods of using the peptides. These peptides are based on the amino acid sequence of the C-terminus region of the type I IFN molecules and are capable of binding to the cytoplasmic domain of type I IFN receptors. Surprisingly, these peptides were found to possess the same or similar biological activity as that associated with the full-length, mature type I IFN proteins, even though these peptides do not bind to the extracellular domain of the type I IFN receptors. In one embodiment, the peptide is a peptide of IFN?. In another embodiment, the peptide is a peptide of IFN?. Exemplified peptides of the invention include those having SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:4, SEQ ID NO:5, SEQ ID NO:6, SEQ ID NO:38, SEQ ID NO:39, and SEQ ID NO:40. The subject peptides have been shown to effect increased resistance to viral infection.

  • Publication number: 20160256708
Abstract: A method for high-dose Grid radiotherapy utilizing a three-dimensional (3D) dose lattice formation is described herein. The 3D dose lattice can be achieved by, but not limited to, three technical approaches: 1) non-coplanar focused beams; 2) multileaf collimator (MLC)-based intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) or aperture-modulated arc; and 3) heavy charged particle beam. The configuration of a 3D dose lattice is comprised of the number, location, and dose of dose vertices. The optimal configuration of a 3D dose lattice can be achieved by manual calculations or by automating the calculations for a generic algorithm. The objective of the optimization algorithm is to satisfy three conditions via iteration until they reach their global minimum. With 3D dose lattice, high doses of radiation are concentrated at each lattice vertex within a tumor with drastically lower doses between vertices (peak-to-valley effect), leaving tissue outside of the tumor volume minimally exposed.

  • Publication number: 20160208707
Abstract: A conduit assembly and method of utilizing the assembly generally extends along a centerline for detachable engagement to a component in an axial direction. The assembly may include a body having an internal, cylindrical, surface with a first surface portion located axially adjacent to a second surface portion. The first portion is circumferentially continuous and the second portion extends circumferentially by about 180 degrees or less. A saddle is axially aligned to the second portion and detachably connects to the body. The saddle extends circumferentially by about 180 degrees or more. A conduit is received in the body and rigidly secured to the body via the saddle. A circumferentially continuous sealing interface is carried between the first portion and the conduit, and is constructed and arranged to slide axially with respect to the first portion and the conduit.

  • Patent number: 9374698
Abstract: An individual uses a communication device to provide information identifying the type of emergency that the individual is experiencing. In response to receiving an emergency alert, an inquiry as to whether the received emergency alert relates to a medical emergency or to a non-medical emergency is generated and provided to the user. Upon receiving a response indicating that the emergency alert relates to a medical emergency, a medical history of the individual is automatically retrieved and a geographical location of the user is determined. A medical emergency service that is suitable for determining a type of medical assistance required by the individual is automatically identified based on the received confirmation and the retrieved medical history. A bi-directional communication with a communication device of the identified medical emergency service is established to upload to a data storage element of the communication device the medical history and geographical location of the individual.

  • Publication number: 20150370898
Abstract: A method of generating a display of media items includes selecting a set of icons and text items representing a set of search elements. The search elements are selected and arranged by a user on a display of the user interface. A query mapper translates the set of search elements into a set of keywords and initially weights the keywords. The keywords are scaled based on information obtained from a user preference database. A weighted query using the set of keywords and the weightings for the keywords is constructed in the query mapper and sent to a search engine. An ordered list of recommendations is provided to the user for selection of an item to playback.

  • Patent number: 9155830
Abstract: The present invention provides for a biocompatible drug delivery device for the targeted treatment of cancer that is implantable within the tumorous mass of a patient. In one embodiment, the device comprises two polarizable elements mechanically coupled by a connecting element. The device also comprises one or more cancer treatment agents. When the polarizable elements are depolarized, such as by the application of ionizing radiation, the two polarizable elements are repelled from each other and release the cancer treatment agent. In another embodiment, one or more treatment agents are expelled from a miniaturized syringe when internal pressure of the device is increased by the production of gas bubbles in response to the application of ionizing radiation.
