Publication number: 20140298221Abstract: A user interface that displays a number of cards or windows is described where a user can move the cards in a horizontal direction freely. When a card resides in a locked zone, as defined by a user, the card will be able to be manipulated in a vertical direction, while cards that reside in a regular zone will not be able to be moved vertically. In addition, only cards that are in the locked zone can be subjected to a user action such as cutting content from the card, pasting content to the card, enlarging the contents of the card, or shrinking the contents of the card.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2011Publication date: October 2, 2014Applicant: Thomson LicensingInventors: Jason Douglas Pickesrsgill, Gregory Gudorf, Kenneth Alan Rudman, Vasil Nadzakov, Andrew Yoon, Roger Yeh, Basil Badawiyeh, Genevieve Marie Pinvidic, Dana Shawn Forte, Dan Han Diep, Samir M. Publication number: 20140298215Abstract: A user interface is used for selecting a time duration for a media collection shelf. The media shelf can be populated with graphical elements corresponding to selected media assets, where the cumulative time duration of selected media assets should not exceed the time duration of the media collection shelf. When placed within the media collection shelf, a graphical element corresponding to a media asset is scaled in proportion to the time duration of the media asset as compared to the time duration of the media collection shelf. Optionally, selected media assets within the media collection shelf are played back in a particular order specified by a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2011Publication date: October 2, 2014Applicant: THOMSON LICENSINGInventors: Regine Lawton, Gregory David Gudorf, Kenneth Alan Rudman, Vasil Nadzakov, Andrew Yoon, Roger Yeh, Basil Badawiyeh, Genevieve Marie Pinvidic, Dana Shawn Forte, Dan Han Diep, Samir M. Publication number: 20140270542Abstract: A method to automatically classify video content retrieved over the Internet and, in particular, to determine whether a candidate video is an instance of a source video. The method begins by sampling static image frames from each of the candidate video and the source video. Based on the sampled static image frames, a set of static image frames in the candidate video that match a corresponding set of static image frames in the source video are then identified. Metadata associated with the sets of matching static image frames are then compared to determine how closely a temporal order of the set of static image frames in the candidate video matches the temporal order of the set of static image frames in the source video. Based on a measure of temporal order match, a classification is then applied to the candidate video to complete the method.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Inventor: Wamiq M. Publication number: 20140249936Abstract: A method and a digital locker system for providing digital locker services are described. Content offers come from external sources and locally hosted sources. Content offers from external sources are received and processed in a content offer processor along with catalog information. Content offers from locally hosted sources are retrieved and catalog information is generated accordingly. Both types of content offers are aggregated and prepared for storage in a content offer cache, which are then used for providing services, such as content query, to users. Content acquisition and playback requests from users are handled according to the provider of the requested content.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2012Publication date: September 4, 2014Applicant: THOMSON LICENSINGInventors: Stelian Markov, Praneeth Kongara, Warren Robert Vollinger, Samir M. Publication number: 20140194667Abstract: A method for high-dose Grid radiotherapy utilizing a three-dimensional (3D) dose lattice formation is described herein. The 3D dose lattice can be achieved by, but not limited to, three technical approaches: 1) non-coplanar focused beams; 2) multileaf collimator (MLC)-based intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) or aperture-modulated arc; and 3) heavy charged particle beam. The configuration of a 3D dose lattice is comprised of the number, location, and dose of dose vertices. The optimal configuration of a 3D dose lattice can be achieved by manual calculations or by automating the calculations for a generic algorithm. The objective of the optimization algorithm is to satisfy three conditions via iteration until they reach their global minimum. With 3D dose lattice, high doses of radiation are concentrated at each lattice vertex within a tumor with drastically lower doses between vertices (peak-to-valley effect), leaving tissue outside of the tumor volume minimally exposed.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 10, 2013Publication date: July 10, 2014Inventors: Xiaodong Wu, Mansoor M. Publication number: 20140134237Abstract: The subject invention pertains to agonist peptides of type I interferons and methods of using the peptides. These peptides are based on the amino acid sequence of the C-terminus region of the type I IFN molecules and are capable of binding to the cytoplasmic domain of type I IFN receptors. Surprisingly, these peptides were found to possess the same or similar biological activity as that associated with the full-length, mature type I IFN proteins, even though these peptides do not bind to the extracellular domain of the type I IFN receptors. In one embodiment, the peptide is a peptide of IFN?. In another embodiment, the peptide is a peptide of IFN?. Exemplified peptides of the invention include those having SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:4, SEQ ID NO:5, SEQ ID NO:6, SEQ ID NO:38, SEQ ID NO:39, and SEQ ID NO:40. The subject peptides have been shown to effect increased resistance to viral infection.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2013Publication date: May 15, 2014Inventors: HOWARD M. JOHNSON, CHULBUL M. Publication number: 20140067855Abstract: The disclosure is related to the idea of tracking user navigation, consumption, and/or behavior and applying analytics to help shape future offerings (customized offerings, up-sells, recommendations, etc.) to a user and to provide reporting data to service providers and studios. Methods and systems of providing viewing recommendations for a user are set forth. This involves collecting usage data related to a session of interaction by the user, processing the user data for the session, and providing feedback regarding the session. The sessions involve multiple stages tracking a user's interactions. These include stages such as an inquiry stage, a results stage, a details stage, a selection stage, and a confirmation stage.
