  • Patent number: 10009830
Abstract: A first network node controls WLAN accesses and a second network node controls cellular network accesses. The first network node (NN) records a time of a last radio contact event of a user equipment (UE) with respect to a WLAN access controlled by the first NN. In response to a request from a third NN, the first NN indicates the recorded time of the last radio contact event to the third NN. The second NN records a time of a last radio contact event of the UE with respect to a cellular network access controlled by the second NN. In response to a request from the third NN, the second NN indicates the recorded time of the last radio contact event to the third NN. The third NN can use the indicated times to determine whether the UE is attached to a WLAN access or to a cellular network access.

  • Publication number: 20180048655
Abstract: The invention relates to a method, by a subscriber database entity (200), to handle a request for subscriber information for a data packet session of one of the subscribers. The subscriber database entity comprises a storage unit (230) storing information about subscribers to a mobile communications network. The method comprises the following steps: receiving a first request for subscriber information for said one subscriber from an application server entity which provides a service to the data packet session, the first subscriber request including service information about the service provided to the data packet session; transmitting, in response to the received first request a second request for information about said one subscriber to at least one of a subscriber authentication entity (110). The subscriber authentication entity (110) is configured to authenticate the subscriber and to provide location information of the subscriber and a mobility entity (90).

  • Patent number: 9883359
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing both Mobile Terminated, MT, and Mobile Originated, MO, circuit switched (CS) services such as Short Message Service, SMS, services in networks utilizing CS Fallback and CSoLTE-I architectures. An extended SGs interface referred to as SGs+ is implemented between a Mobility Management Entity, MME, in an SAE core network and a Mobile Switching Center Server, MSC-S. The SGs+ interface supports transmission of upper layer CS packet data units while utilizing either connectionless or connection-oriented Signaling Connection Control Part, SCCP, operation. The non access stratum, NAS, signaling support between the User Equipment, UE, and the MME is extended to provide support for both MT SMS and MO SMS service.

  • Patent number: 9867090
Abstract: Dual Radio Access Transfer of an IMS in an alerting phase for the Packet Switched to Circuit Switched direction includes initiating an IMS media session towards UE and, during a session alerting phase, making a determination that a DRVCC transfer is required from a PS to CS, access, sending a SIP message from the UE to a SCC-AS, over the PS access, informing the SCC-AS of the DRVCC transfer, and responding to receipt of the SIP message at the SCC-AS by sending a SIP INVITE from the SCC-AS towards MSC. The SIP INVITE includes an identity of the UE as a called party identity and the STN as the calling party identity. The Transfer includes sending from the MSC to the UE a CS Setup message, whereupon the MSC is placed in a state in which it expects a CS Answer from the UE.

  • Patent number: 9596712
Abstract: A method for restoring connectivity between a node in an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, network, and a User Equipment, UE. The UE is associated with a Proxy Call Session Control Function node, P-CSCF, of said IMS network, and with at least one control node of a packet access network, through which the UE connects to the IMS network. • Publication number: 20160183175
Abstract: A mobile network provides first accesses implemented by a first radio access technology and second accesses implemented by a second radio access technology, which is different from the first radio access technology. A network node controls one or more of the first accesses records at least one mobility event. The mobility event corresponds to movement of a user equipment from one of the first accesses controlled by the network node to one of the second accesses. Further, the network node receives a query from a further network node. Depending on the recorded at least one mobility event, the network node responds to the query with an indication whether voice communication over packet switched access is supported for the user equipment.

  • Publication number: 20160072852
Abstract: Methods, nodes, a terminal, a communication system and computer programs to be used in association with terminating a circuit switched signaling service to a terminal (108) via a circuit switched access of a mobile network (100) are described. In one method, the signaling service is different from a voice call via the circuit switched access and from a mobile terminating location request service. A call via an internet protocol domain of the mobile network (100) and a packet switched access of the mobile network (100) is or is being established for the terminal (108). The method is performed by a control node (104) of the mobile network (100) and comprises receiving (112) a paging request for paging the terminal (108) via the packet switched access. The paging request is for the circuit switched signaling service.

  • Publication number: 20150373058
Abstract: A telecommunications network has a packet switched domain for handling packet based calls and a circuit switched telephony domain for handling circuit switched calls. A node of the packet switched telephony domain decides whether to terminate a call to a user equipment using a packet based connection to the user equipment or using a circuit switched connection to the user equipment. In response to deciding to terminate the call using the circuit switched connection, the node sends, to a further node controlling routing of calls between the packet switched telephony domain and the circuit switched telephony domain, an indication that services related to the call are controlled in the packet switched telephony domain. In accordance with the indication, the further node may then adapt its control signalling with respect to a node of the circuit switched telephony domain.

  • Publication number: 20150181412
Abstract: A method and apparatus for allocating an identifier to a terminal in a communications network. A core network controlling node, such as a Mobility Management Entity (MME) receives an International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) and an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) from the terminal. Subscription information is determined using both the IMSI and the IMEI. A temporary identifier that can be used to identify the terminal is then allocated to the subscription information.
