  • Publication number: 20150003116
Abstract: A control circuit generates a control signal to control a duty cycle of a switched mode power supply such that the magnetic flux density in the transformer is balanced, thereby preventing saturation of the transformer core. This permits the use of unsymmetrical duty cycles within the switch cycle. The control circuit comprises a flux density calculator and a regulator. The flux density regulator receives a signal indicative of the input voltage of the switched mode power supply and a feedback signal comprising the generated control signal, and it generates therefrom an average flux density signal. The regulator receives the generated average flux density signal and a signal indicative of the output voltage of the switched mode power supply, and generates the control signal in dependence upon the average flux density signal, the reference flux density signal, the signal indicative of the output voltage and a reference voltage signal.

  • Patent number: 8902617
Abstract: A switching delay controller is configured to control a switching delay between the switching of first and second switching elements in a switched mode power supply. The switched mode power supply generates a feedback signal indicative of a difference between an output of the switched mode power supply and a reference for the output, and switches the first and second switching elements to convert an input voltage into an output voltage based on the feedback signal. The switching delay controller includes a switching delay calculator operable to cause a change of the switching delay for at least one switching cycle of the switched mode power supply, and a feedback signal monitor operable to monitor the feedback signal and determine a change in the feedback signal in response to the change of the switching delay by the switching delay calculator.

  • Patent number: 8854026
Abstract: A method of determining a measure of a total capacitance of one or more capacitive elements connected to an output of a switched mode power supply is described. The method includes generating a voltage control signal to cause an output voltage controller to sweep a voltage at the output of the switched mode power supply from an initial voltage value to a final voltage value. Sample values of a current at the output measured by a current sampler during the sweep of the output voltage are received, and an integrated current value representing a measure of the total capacitance using the received sample values is calculated.

  • Publication number: 20140153542
Abstract: A method implemented by a MS for controlling handover of the MS from a source cell of a source RAN operating in PS domain to a target cell of a target RAN operating in PS domain where the target RAN supports MOCN. The method includes receiving SI transmitted by a node of the source RAN. The SI includes a selected PLMN, LAC of the target cell, and RAC of the target cell. The MS executes handover to the target RAN. A target RAI is determined using the selected PLMN, LAC of the target cell, and RAC of the target cell from the SI transmitted by the node of the source RAN. The target RAI is compared to a registered RAI of the MS. The MS determines whether a RAU is needed in the target RAN based on the comparison of the target RAI to the registered RAI.

  • Patent number: 8711979
Abstract: A wireless receiver for receiving a signal with a characteristic pattern includes a predictor for predicting the presence of a non-zero value of the characteristic pattern. A tracker tracks a noise component in the received signal between predicted non-zero values. The resulting noise component is subtracted from the received signal to output a processed signal, which is then decoded by a pattern discriminator and demodulator. The wireless receiver is less sensitive to noise and interference.
