Abstract: The invention relates to a process for preparing (2,3) disubstituted succinates that allows (2,3) disubstituted succinates to be obtained in good purity and with acceptable reaction yields. The (2) and (3) substitutions may be the same or different. The process comprises reacting a haloacetate with a malonic acid ester into a tricarboxylate, which is further reacted to a (2,3) disubstituted tricarboxylate, hydrolyzed, decarboxylated and optionally esterified. Esterified (2,3) disubstituted succinic esters may be used as internal donor in Ziegler-Natta type catalysts for the polymerization of olefins.

Abstract: Aqueous compositions comprising salinomycin, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, miscible organic solvents, and solubilizers and/or emulsifying agents are disclosed. The formulations disclosed herein are useful in the treatment of cancer, especially cancers associated with cancer stem cells or cancerous mesenchymal cells. The method of treating a subject may further comprise identifying a subject having a disorder suitable for treatment with the aqueous compositions described, comprising detecting one or more biomarkers predictive of the prevalence of a cancer having or enriched for cancer stem cells (CSCs).

Abstract: System and methods for access control in a Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) network are based on a user identity. A control point has an identity assertion capability for identifying a user. The control point is configured to declare a value of an attribute associated with the identity assertion capability. A device is communicatively coupled to the control point via the UPnP network. The device has a first access control list and a trusted-to-identify access control list (TIA). The device is configured to permit the user to perform one or more actions based upon whether the user identity appears as a subject in the first access control list.

Abstract: An on board inert gas generation system for an aircraft receives air from a relatively low pressure source such as low pressure engine bleed air or ram air and passes it to a positive displacement compressor to increase the pressure thereof to be suitable for supply to an air separation module. The speed of the positive displacement compressor may be adjusted across a wide range in order to provide efficient operation in cruise and descent phases of aircraft flight. The operating speed of the compressor and/or the flow rate from the ASM to the space to be inerted may be controlled in accordance with at least one of the gas composition in the space to be inerted, the flight condition, and the ullage volume.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for triggering location estimation of mobile stations in a geographic region of interest. The disclosed system includes a list of International Mobile Subscriber Identities (“IMSI”) used to track which mobile stations are to have location estimates generated, a database of Network Measurement Reports (“NMR”) used for generating the location estimates, and a location engine. The system operates as a group of concurrently executing processes that i) process IMSIs and NMRs that are extracted by and received from probes that monitor communication links; ii) generate location estimates of mobile stations in the region of interest, based on a sequential indexing of the IMSI list; iii) maintain the freshness of the NMR database; and iv) maintain the freshness of the IMSI list. These processes operate such that the triggering of the location estimations occurs asynchronously with respect to the detection of information on the communication links.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes establishing a connection between a client and a messaging fabric associated with a video system that includes a metadata broker element; storing metadata information associated with content, where the content is associated with a release uniform resource locator (URL); and generating a content guide, (e.g., an electronic program guide) that includes a plurality of content definitions (e.g., channels). A particular content (e.g., program) in the content guide is associated with a particular release URL that can be translated into a more specific URL based on a number of criteria.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed pertain to systems, method s and apparatus for the initialization of Computer Vision (CV) applications on user devices (UDs) comprising a camera and a display. In some embodiments, an optimal camera trajectory for initialization of a Computer Vision (CV) application may be determined based on an initial camera pose and an estimated pivot distance. For example, the initial camera pose may be estimated based on a first image captured by the camera. Further, the display may be updated in real-time with an indication of a desired movement direction for the camera. In some embodiments, the indication of desired movement direction may be based, in part, on a current camera pose and the optimal trajectory, where the current camera pose may be estimated based on a current image captured by the camera.

Abstract: Given a set of documents relevant to a litigation hold and a seed set of keywords, a second set of keywords can be generated and suggested to a user. Each document in a training set of documents is given an indication of relevance. Based on the indication of relevance, a set of further keywords relevant to the litigation is extracted from the documents and suggested to a user. The suggested set of keywords may or may not include keywords in the seed set. Additionally, the suggested set of keywords may be related to the seed set of keywords.

Abstract: Detecting and managing idle virtual storage servers (VSSs) on a host system. The host system may execute several VSSs, each VSS may comprise a virtual machine implementing a virtualized storage operating system and provide storage services for one or more clients. Detecting and managing idle virtual storage servers comprises three stages: 1) detecting idle VSSs, 2) suspending an idle VSS, and 3) un-suspending a suspended VSS. For the first stage, idle VSSs are detected using a first metric relating to network activity of the VSS, a second metric relating to storage object-related requests received by a VSS, and a third metric relating to inbound data for a VSS. For the second stage, an idle virtual storage server is suspended to release its resources while preserving its state for possible later use. For the third stage, a suspended virtual storage server may be unsuspended if a client attempts to access it.

Abstract: A LPM search engine includes a plurality of exact match (EXM) engines and a moderately sized TCAM. Each EXM engine uses a prefix bitmap scheme that allows the EXM engine to cover multiple consecutive prefix lengths. Thus, instead of covering one prefix length L per EXM engine, the prefix bitmap scheme enables each EXM engine to cover entries having prefix lengths of L, L+1, L+2 and L+3, for example. As a result, fewer EXM engines are potentially underutilized, which effectively reduces quantization loss. Each EXM engine provides a search result with a determined fixed latency when using the prefix bitmap scheme. The results of multiple EXM engines and the moderately sized TCAM are combined to provide a single search result, representative of the longest prefix match. In one embodiment, the LPM search engine supports 32-bit IPv4 (or 128-bit IPv6) search keys, each having associated 15-bit level 3 VPN identification values.

Abstract: A system and method to acquire data from a sensor and transfer the data to an external device is disclosed. The sensor retrieves data that corresponds to vibration or pressure and send the millivolt (mV) signal to an accessory. The accessory acquires the data will be much more cost effective compared to dedicated instruments to acquire data and analyze data in itself. The external device collects data and can email the data or sent to cloud due to ready interface from the external device. More advanced calculations can be performed on cloud and results sent back to the external device for detail analysis. The embodiment provides such back and forth analysis using the accessory.

A requester's identity determines action paths to be executed in order to enable access to fields. A client application's user privileges are inherited to enable access to secured fields. Such access through a granted privilege is provided through an API intermediating inheritance of user's privileges from client application.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for optimizing fault synchronization in a bidirectional data network are provided. In an example, a downstream endpoint of the data network receives a first Alarm Indication Signal (AIS). The first AIS indicates a first FLI of an upstream interface having an interface fault. The downstream endpoint transmits, to an upstream endpoint of the data network, a second AIS including a Remote Defect Indication (RDI) and a second FLI identifying the downstream endpoint. An upstream endpoint of the data network receives the second AIS and determines that the AIS is an AIS-RDI (AIS-RDI) from the presence of the second FLI. The presence of the AIS-RDI triggers the upstream endpoint to initiate tunnel failure synchronization with the downstream endpoint.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes receiving a request for video content from a client device and accessing a common format representation for a requested chunk within the video content. The common format representation is provided in one or more files that include metadata indicative of one or more counters. The method can also include using the common format representation in conjunction with a deterministic equation to identify a predicted size of an output to be sent to the client device; and using the predicted size of the output to initiate transmitting at least a portion of a response to the client.

Abstract: Video analytics and a mass storage unit are contained in a camera housing of a video camera. The video analytics analyzes video data produced by the video camera and detects whether there is an occurrence of a defined event of interest. The video data representing the field of view of the scene observed by the video camera are stored in the mass storage unit. The stored video data include video data of first and second qualities. The first quality represents the occurrence in a field of view of the video camera of the defined event of interest detected by the video analytics. The second quality represents the nonoccurrence in the field of view of the defined event of interest detected by the video analytics. Storing video data of first and second qualities reduces system storage capacity demands.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for forwarding communications, such as telephone calls over a voice network, are provided. A user accesses a data network to specify one or more rules for forwarding telephone calls. For example, the user may use an electronic calendar to specify patterns for forwarding their telephone calls. These patterns may include one or more rules for determining a forwarding pattern, and one or more time periods specifying when the pattern is effective. The rules are provided to a service center which provides configuration information to the voice network. The voice network then forwards calls based on the configuration information for the time periods specified by the user.
