In an example embodiment, computer-implemented method of pre-fetching in a network comprises receiving a request from a user device for a first network-accessible data item in the plurality of network-accessible data items; transmitting the first network-accessible data item to the user device; identifying a second network-accessible data item in the plurality of network-accessible data items; and transmitting the second network-accessible data item to the user device, the second network-accessible data item being transmitted before receiving a request for the second network-accessible data item from the user device. Pre-fetch logic may be embedded in the first network-accessible data item.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example and includes receiving a request packet associated with a flow; designating an out of order sequence number range associated with the flow; creating an entry that designates the out of order sequence number range; receiving a subsequent packet that includes a particular sequence number range; referencing the out of order sequence number range; resolving a portion of the entry corresponding to the particular sequence number range for the subsequent packet; and forwarding the subsequent packet. In other embodiments, the request packet includes a content length field indicating the out of order sequence number range associated with the flow. Creating the entry can include creating a segment within a queue for the out of order sequence number range, which reflects expected sequence numbers for packets associated with the flow.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for enhancing/extending a serial point-to-point interconnect architecture, such as Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) is herein described. Temporal and locality caching hints and prefetching hints are provided to improve system wide caching and prefetching. Message codes for atomic operations to arbitrate ownership between system devices/resources are included to allow efficient access/ownership of shared data. Loose transaction ordering provided for while maintaining corresponding transaction priority to memory locations to ensure data integrity and efficient memory access. Active power sub-states and setting thereof is included to allow for more efficient power management. And, caching of device local memory in a host address space, as well as caching of system memory in a device local memory address space is provided for to improve bandwidth and latency for memory accesses.

Abstract: Described and disclosed herein are various embodiments of method and systems for monitoring, certifying or recertifying performance of a building or structure. Such systems and methods may include or employ at least one building or structure data acquisition device, building or structure performance data corresponding to the building or structure, at least one dashboard device operably connected to the data acquisition device, and computer and/or internet means for transferring at least portions of the building or structure performance data to a server. The server or another computer is configured and programmed to certify or not certify the building or structure as meeting building or structure performance certification standards.

Abstract: Described herein are an apparatus, system, and method for providing a vertical optical coupler (VOC) for planar photonics circuits such as photonics circuits fabricated on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers. In one embodiment, the VOC comprises a waveguide made from a material having refractive index in a range of 1.45 to 3.45, the waveguide comprising: a first end configured to reflect light nearly vertical by total internal reflection between the waveguide and another medium, a second end to receive the light for reflection, and a third end to output the reflected light. The VOC couples with a Si waveguide having a first region including: a first end to receive light; and an inverted tapered end in the direction of light propagation to output the received light, wherein the inverted tapered end of the Si waveguide is positioned inside the waveguide.

Abstract: A method and computing device are provided for performing virtual camera functions during playback of media content. In the method, the computing device selects a region of interest (RoI) during a playback of media content, and represents the RoI as an ensemble of disparate hypotheses. Then the computing device identifies the RoI in a frame sequence sampled according to the hypotheses, performs a virtual camera action on the identified RoI, and plays the RoI with a virtual camera.

Abstract: A voltage source inverter comprises a rectifier having an input for receiving single-phase AC power from an AC source and converting the AC power to DC power on a DC bus. The DC bus has first and second rails to provide a relatively fixed DC voltage. A DC bus capacitor is across the first and second rails to smooth voltage ripple. An inverter receives DC power from the DC bus and converts the DC power to AC power. An active front end circuit comprises a pair of filter capacitors in series across the first and second rails to create a midpoint. A bidirectional switch is connected between the rectifier input and the midpoint. The bidirectional switch is controlled to inject current into the midpoint of the DC bus.

In one embodiment, a system for facilitating identification of an informative segment from a data is provided. The system includes one or more processors; and a memory storing processor-executable instructions comprising instructions to generate a customized search query based on one or more input parameters, process the data to obtain a plurality of machine-readable data objects, obtain one or more approximate results corresponding to the informative segment based on the customize search query and the plurality of data objects, validate the one or more approximate results based on a comparison of the one or more approximate results and the data, and provide the validated one or more approximate result to identify the informative segment.

Abstract: A sample compressor applies pressure to a sample collector and a sample application zone of a test strip to transfer a sample from the sample collector and a binding partner of an analyte to the sample application zone in a lateral flow device. At least one of the binding partners of the analyte is not located on the test strip prior to use of the lateral flow device. The test strip may be a universal test strip with no molecule that specifically binds the analyte is located on the test strip. The sample compressor may be a universal sample compressor also with no molecule that specifically binds the analyte on the sample compressor. The lateral flow device may also include one or more enhancement elements, where the enhancement elements bind to the analyte sandwich to increase a detection signal in the test zone.

Abstract: An ironing board assembly includes an ironing board having a main board portion and at least one auxiliary board portion that is movably connected to the main board portion such that the auxiliary board portion is movable between operating and collapsed positions. A flexible ironing board cover is attachable to the ironing board so as to cover ironing sides of both the main and the auxiliary board portions, and to provide an ironing surface for a user to iron on. A tensioner is configured to pull the flexible cover taut over the covered ironing sides such that the ironing surface extends seamlessly across any joint or gap between the main and auxiliary board portions.

Abstract: Architecture that addresses an end-to-end solution for logical transactional replication from a shared-nothing clustered database management system, which uses adaptive cloning for high availability. This can be time based using a global logical timestamp. The disclosed architecture, used for refreshing stale clones, does not preserve user transaction boundaries, which is a more complex situation than where the boundaries are preserved. In such a scenario it is probable that for a given data segment no clone of the segment may contain the complete user transaction history, and hence, the history has to be pieced together from the logs of multiple different clones. This is accomplished such that log harvesting is coordinated with the clone state transitions to ensure the correctness of logical replication.
