  • Patent number: 8116333
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing connection control in a wireless communication system is described. In one embodiment, an apparatus is used in a wireless communication system for communicating with a wireless network, and the apparatus comprises a host processor, a transceiver, a physical interface coupling the host processor and the transceiver; and a memory accessible by the host processor and the transceiver to exchange information between the host processor and the transceiver. The memory has multiple banks that include: a first bank to store information being transferred from the host processor to the transceiver, and a second bank to store information being transferred from the transceiver to the host processor, the second bank being different than the first bank, to facilitate full-duplex communication of packet data between the host processor and the transceiver.

  • Patent number: 8112302
Abstract: Systems and methods for reconciling a forecast for a dimension based upon data that is associated with the dimension. A method can be used that includes generating a plurality of forecasts for the dimensions such that the forecast of a first dimension is generated independently of a forecast of a second dimension. The forecast of the first dimension has a constraint that is influenced by the forecast of the second dimension. A reconciliation is performed between the forecast of the first dimension and the forecast of the second dimension in order to determine how the constraint of the first dimension's forecast is to influence the first dimension's forecast.

  • Publication number: 20120030641
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention provide techniques and systems for performing scenario reduction using a dominance relation on a set of corners. During operation, the system can receive a design library which specifies gate characteristics at each corner in a set of corners. Next, the system can use the design library to determine a dominance relation on the set of corners for each gate type. The dominance relations can be stored with the design library. The system can then receive a set of scenarios over which a circuit design is to be optimized. Next, the system can determine a subset of the set of scenarios using one or more dominance relations on the set of corners. The system can then optimize the circuit design over the subset of the set of scenarios.

  • Publication number: 20120030508
Abstract: Techniques used in an automatic failover configuration having a primary database system, a standby database system, and an observer. In the automatic failover configuration, the primary database system remains available even in the absence of both the standby and the observer as long as the standby and the observer become absent sequentially. The failover configuration may use asynchronous transfer modes to transfer redo to the standby and permits automatic failover only when the observer is present and the failover will not result in data loss due to the asynchronous transfer mode beyond a specified maximum. The database systems and the observer have copies of failover configuration state and the techniques include techniques for propagating the most recent version of the state among the databases and the observer and techniques for using carefully-ordered writes to ensure that state changes are propagated in a fashion which prevents divergence.

  • Publication number: 20120030642
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention provide techniques and systems for performing aggressive and dynamic scenario reduction during different phases of optimization, e.g., during delay, area, leakage and DRC (design rule check) optimization. Specifically, essential scenarios at gates and timing end-points can be identified and then used during the dynamic scenario reduction process. In some embodiments, margin values associated with various constraints can be used to determine the set of essential scenarios to account for constrained objects that are near critical in addition to the constrained objects that are the worst violators. In some embodiments, at any point during the optimization process, only the set of essential scenarios are kept active, thereby substantially reducing runtime and memory requirements without compromising on the quality of results.

  • Publication number: 20120023081
Abstract: Methods and systems for utilizing images of interest to a user, so far as they relate to recent, current or upcoming events, to generate custom search engine home pages are provided. Upon receiving a request from the user to view the search engine home page, it is determined whether any indicators of the user's interests are available. If one or more interest indicators is available, the indicator(s) are compared to interest indicators (or categories of indicators) associated with recent, current and/or upcoming events to determine if there is a common interest indicator/category there between. Upon determining that there is a common interest indicator/category between one or more events and the user, a custom image is selected for presentation in association with the search engine home page based upon the common interest indicator/category. The search engine home page with the custom-selected image is then presented to the user.
