  • Patent number: 8095618
Abstract: In a multi-tenant data sharing environment with shared, customizable data attributes are assigned to requested data and stored in a cache store along with the requested data. For non-customized data designated as system data, one copy is stored in the cache store for use by multiple tenants allowing optimization of memory and performance for each data request/retrieval operation. A “delete sentinel” attribute may be assigned to non-existing data in the cache store enabling notification of requesting tenant(s) without a need to access the tenant data store each time a request for the non-existing data is received.

  • Patent number: 8095928
Abstract: An embodiment of a method of forming a virtual computer cluster within a shared computing environment begins with a step of placing gatekeeper software on each of a plurality of particular host computers of the shared computing environment. The method continues with a step of assigning computing platforms located on the particular host computers to the virtual computer cluster. The gatekeeper software interposes between the computing platforms and hardware resources of the particular host computers. The method concludes with a step of isolating the virtual computer cluster from a remainder of the shared computing environment using the gatekeeper software. The gatekeeper software allows communication between the computing platforms while precluding communication with other computing platforms of the shared computing environment. The gatekeeper software controls input and output operations for the virtual computer cluster.

  • Patent number: 8095244
Abstract: A method and system for intelligently directing output boost capabilities of wind turbine generators operating together in a wind plant has been provided. Selected ones of the wind turbine generators have their own individual boost modes of operation that can provide a limited time increase in power output. This boost capability of the selected individual generators is conveyed to the wind plant control upon request and is used to direct individual boot operations of the generators. In some embodiments, weather forecast information including wind forecast information is used to calculate the generators present and future forecasted boost capabilities.

  • Patent number: 8090378
Abstract: A method for configuring color codes in a cellular telephone network is disclosed. The method includes calculating a distance between all possible color codes to be assigned to each of the cells in the network, assigning a first code to a first base station, determining a second code corresponding to a maximum calculated distance from the first code, and assigning subsequent codes to adjacent cells as determined by the maximum available distance between the two neighboring cells' codes to help minimize cross talk and channel interference on the cellular network.

  • Patent number: 8089314
Abstract: A slew rate improved operational amplifier circuit is provided to improve the slew rates of an operational amplifier with minimal sacrifices in power dissipation and other operational amplifier parameters. To improve the slew rates of operational amplifiers, additional current sources are activated when a slewing operation is detected. The detection of slewing operations and the activation of current sources upon detection can be implemented using two comparator circuits—one for a positive slewing operation, and one for a negative slewing operation. A sub-45 nm FinFET implementation of this slew rate improvement concept was implemented and compared against slew rate optimized individual two-stage operational amplifiers. Simulations show that slew rates were significantly improved by the implementation of the comparator circuits (5590 V/?s vs. 273 V/?s), with minimal increases in power dissipation (78 ?W vs. 46 ?W).

  • Publication number: 20110319825
Abstract: A catheter assembly includes a catheter hub defining an interior cavity and a catheter tube extending distally thereof. A rigid actuator extends proximally in the interior cavity and supports a seal member thereon. The seal member includes a central membrane, a distal portion, and a proximal portion. An hourglass shaped actuator cavity is formed in the distal portion and receives a barbed end of the actuator. The outer surface of the seal member is in partial circumferential engagement with the catheter hub to define an air path that allows fluid communication between areas of the interior cavity distal and proximal of the seal member. A punch tool is provided to form a tri-slit in the membrane of the seal member. The seal member may be configured for multi-use and include a biasing member that moves the seal member to force the membrane back over the actuator to close the membrane.

  • Publication number: 20110320617
Abstract: Described herein is a method and system for preventing Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. An intermediary device is deployed between clients and servers. The device receives a first packet of an application layer transaction via a transport layer connection between the device and client. The device records a last activity time for the transport layer connection based upon the timestamp of the first packet. The device receives subsequent data packets and determines whether the data in the packets completes a protocol data structure of the application layer protocol. If the device determines that the subsequent packet completes the protocol data structure, the last activity time is updated. If the device determines that the application layer protocol remains incomplete, the device retains the last activity time and determines that the duration of inactivity for the transport layer connection exceeds a predetermined threshold. The device may subsequently drop the connection.
