  • Publication number: 20110307544
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for enabling a system service executing in an isolated session to access system resources (such as a graphics processing unit) that it is isolated from. In an embodiment, the system service creates a “worker” session that is not isolated, and a “worker” process inside that worker session. Then, the system service is able to access the system resource that it is directly isolated from accessing by passing a request to the worker process to access the system resource on the system service's behalf. The worker process does so, and passes a result to the system service.

  • Publication number: 20110307948
Abstract: A customer relationship management (CRM) eventing framework may be extended to a cloud computing environment. A listening channel may be opened between a service and a service bus in a cloud computing environment. The cloud computing environment may also include an authenticating service. Service information for the service may be registered with a CRM. The CRM may receive a request made by a requester. The request may trigger a request processing pipeline in an eventing framework. The CRM may post event data responsive to the request to the service bus. The service may receive the event data, process it and may send back a confirmation or response. The CRM may finally send a response to the requester.

  • Patent number: 8078523
Abstract: An alert system that notifies an Exchange's staff of a trade that appears to be outside of an expected market range of prices includes an input device, determination logic, evaluation logic, and alert logic. The determination logic derives a theoretical no-bust range of prices based on data received from the input device. The theoretical no-bust range of prices are prices above and below a synthesized market price, within which an erroneous trade cannot be cancelled. The evaluation logic monitors trades and compares those trades to the theoretical no-bust range of prices. The alert logic notifies the Exchange's staff when the evaluation logic identifies a potentially erroneous trade that lies outside the theoretical no-bust range of prices. A method of notifying the Exchange of a trade that potentially lies outside of an expected range of prices includes monitoring an input range of prices and deriving the theoretical no-bust range of prices.

  • Patent number: 8073254
Abstract: Methods and systems detect objects of interest in a spatio-temporal signal. According to one embodiment, a system processes a digital spatio-temporal input signal containing zero or more foreground objects of interest superimposed on a background. The system comprises a foreground/background separation module, a foreground object grouping module, an object classification module, and a feedback connection. The foreground/background separation module receives the spatio-temporal input signal and, according to one or more adaptable parameters, produces foreground/background labels designating elements of the spatio-temporal input signal as either foreground or background. The foreground object grouping module is connected to the foreground/background separation module and identifies groups of selected foreground-labeled elements as foreground objects. The object classification module is connected to the foreground object grouping module and generates object-level information related to the foreground object.

  • Publication number: 20110295969
Abstract: Computers are provided with a totally ordered, durable shared log. Shared storage is used and can be directly accessed by the computers over a network. Append-log operations are made atomic in the face of failures by committing provisional append ordering information onto a log. The log may comprise multiple flash packages or non-volatile memory devices, referred to as segments, although any shared storage device(s) may be used. Each log record is a multi-page stripe, where each page of a stripe is written to a different segment. Fault-tolerant protocol variants append stripes to the log, such that stripes are totally ordered in the log and each stripe is written atomically.
