  • Publication number: 20110050947
Abstract: Video analytics and a mass storage unit are contained in a camera housing of a video camera. The camera produces video data representing the field of view of a scene observed by the camera. The video analytics analyzes the video data and detects whether there is an occurrence of a defined feature of an object or a defined event of interest. The video analytics also generates metadata based upon the content of the video data. The video data and metadata are stored in the mass storage unit. Access to stored video data may be controlled based on content, and access to live video data may be controlled as metadata corresponding to the video data is created. The metadata can be used to search for corresponding video data representing the detected feature of an object or event of interest observed in the scene.

  • Publication number: 20110048031
Abstract: A regenerator having a thermal diffusivity matrix is presented. The thermal diffusivity matrix includes magneto-caloric material having multiple miniature protrusions intimately packed to form a gap between the protrusions. A fluid path is provided within the gap to facilitate flow of a heat exchange fluid and further provide efficient thermal exchange between the heat exchange fluid and magneto-caloric material. A first layer is disposed on each of the miniature protrusion to physically isolate the heat exchange fluid and magneto-caloric material, wherein the first layer further includes a soft magnetic material configured to simultaneously enhance a permeability and a thermal efficiency of the thermal diffusivity matrix.

  • Publication number: 20110043631
Abstract: Video analytics and a mass storage unit are contained in a camera housing of a video camera. Video data representing a field of view of a scene observed by the camera are stored in the mass storage unit. The video analytics analyzes video data produced by the camera and detects whether there is an occurrence of a defined event of interest. A video clip of the scene representing the event of interest is sent to a remote storage unit. Since only about 1% of security video data is reviewed, storing only video data representing events of interest remotely, while storing more complete video data of the scene observed by the camera local to the camera, reduces the remote storage capacity and bandwidth demand for the video system. Remote redundant storage of events of interest also provides higher reliability and fault tolerant storage for the video data that are most important.

  • Publication number: 20110038185
Abstract: A variable frequency drive comprises a diode rectifier receiving multiphase AC power from a source and converting the AC power to DC power. An inverter receives DC power and converts the DC power to AC power to drive a load. A link circuit is connected between the diode rectifier and the inverter and comprises a DC bus to provide a relatively fixed DC voltage for the inverter. A bus capacitor is across the bus. A soft charge circuit limits inrush current to the bus capacitor. The soft charge circuit comprises an inductor connected between the source and the link circuit and a switch circuit in the link circuit for selectively providing a semiconverter configuration or a full bridge converter configuration to provide two stage charging of the bus capacitor.

  • Patent number: 7882079
Abstract: Techniques used in an automatic failover configuration having a primary database system, a standby database system, and an observer. In the automatic failover configuration, the primary database system remains available even in the absence of both the standby and the observer as long as the standby and the observer become absent sequentially. The failover configuration may use asynchronous transfer modes to transfer redo to the standby and permits automatic failover only when the observer is present and the failover will not result in data loss due to the asynchronous transfer mode beyond a specified maximum. The database systems and the observer have copies of failover configuration state and the techniques include techniques for propagating the most recent version of the state among the databases and the observer and techniques for using carefully-ordered writes to ensure that state changes are propagated in a fashion which prevents divergence.

  • Publication number: 20110016772
Abstract: A biodiesel generation system incorporates acid esterification through a hydro-cavitation based nano reactor. A feed material is a mixture of approximately 30 percent Palm Fatty Acid Distillate (PFAD) mixed with Para Toluene Sulfonic Acid (PTSA) as an acid catalyst and methanol as a reagent. The PFAD is approximately 90 percent Free Fatty Acid (FFA) resulting in the feed material being approximately 27 percent FFA. The acid catalyst in the feed material facilitates an esterification process to produce biodiesel. The feed material is pumped through the hydro-cavitation based nano reactor and forced through a nano orifice where, by a phenomenon of hydro cavitation, collapsing nano liquid molecules can generate instantaneous temperatures of 1000 degrees centigrade resulting in quick reaction taking place at the surface of collapsing nano molecules. Partially reacted feed material may be recycled through the nano reactor several times to complete the reaction.

  • Patent number: 7877398
Abstract: A method and system of masking a group of related data values. A record in an unmasked data file of n records is read. The record includes a first set of data values of data elements included in a related data group (RDG) and one or more data values of one or more data elements external to the RDG. A random number k is received. A second set of data values is retrieved from a lookup table that associates n key values with n sets of data values. Retrieving the second set of data values includes identifying that the second set of data values is associated with a key value of k. The n sets of data values are included in the umnasked data file's n records. The record is masked by replacing the first set of data values with the retrieved second set of data values.

  • Patent number: 7877581
Abstract: A networking application processor is provided. The processor includes an input socket configured to receive data packets. The processor includes a memory for holding instructions and circuitry configured to access data structures associated with the processing stages. The circuitry configured to access data structures enables a single cycle access to an operand from a memory location. An arithmetic logic unit (ALU) is provided. Circuitry for aligning operands to be processed by the ALU is included. The circuitry for aligning the operands causes the operand to be aligned by a lowest significant bit, wherein the circuitry for aligning the operand supplies an extension to the operand to allow the ALU to process different size operands.

  • Patent number: 7876229
Abstract: A computer assisted method identifies characteristics of a flare. A digital image of the flare is obtained, such as by a color digital video camera and a region of interest likely containing the flare is identified. Flare pixels within the region of interest are identified and color information is extracted from such flare pixels. • Publication number: 20110015981
Abstract: Systems and methods to incentivize transactions to enhance social goodness are described. The system receives a request for a badge representing social goodness of a user of a first network entity. The request includes a user identifier that identifies the user. The system generates the badge based on a social goodness index for the user. The social goodness index may be based on at least one social goodness criteria that is selected from social goodness criterion by the user and transaction information for transactions of items that are transacted by the user on the first network entity. The social goodness index provides a measurement of the social goodness of the user in relation to other users of the first network entity. The system communicates the badge to the second network entity to enable the second network entity to communicate the badge to a third network entity.

  • Publication number: 20110011105
Abstract: An oil separator for use in separating oil from refrigerant gas in a chiller system is provided. Its operation is based on centrifugal separation principles and does not require the use any type of filter or media pack to remove oil from refrigerant gas. The oil separator includes a non-circular (e.g., elliptical) refrigerant outlet pipe that transitions the linear flow from the inlet connection to a swirling (e.g., circular) flow within the cylindrical housing. The non-circular shape of the entrance to the refrigerant outlet pipe provides for more turbulent gas flow and a greater extraction of oil as well as minimization of pressure losses.

An orifice disc (54) is provided at the inlet and includes at least one orifice (58). A cover (22) is coupled to the housing. A flexible diaphragm (12) has a periphery fixedly secured to at least the housing or the cover and has a freely movable central portion (36). A compression spring (14) biases the diaphragm to a normal position. In an operating position, the central portion of the diaphragm alone, or in combination with the spring, is constructed and arranged to dampen fuel pressure pulsations at the inlet. The orifice is constructed and arranged to ensure that pressure pulsations of a certain magnitude are prevented from entering the damper and damaging the diaphragm.
