  • Patent number: 7962642
Abstract: A communications system having a data transfer pipeline apparatus for transferring data in a sequence of N stages from an origination device to a destination device. The apparatus comprises dedicated memory having buffers dedicated for carrying data and a master control for registering and controlling processes associated with the apparatus for participation in the N stage data transfer sequence. The processes include a first stage process for initiating the data transfer and a last Nth stage process for completing data transfer. The first stage process allocates a buffer from a predetermined number of buffers available within the memory for collection, processing, and sending of the data from the origination device to a next stage process. The Nth stage process receives a buffer allocated to the first stage process from the (N?1)th stage and to free the buffer upon processing completion to permit reallocation of the buffer.

  • Patent number: 7962340
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for overcoming errors in speech recognition systems. For example, a technique for processing acoustic data in accordance with a speech recognition system comprises the following steps/operations. Acoustic data is obtained in association with the speech recognition system. The acoustic data is recorded using a combination of a first buffer area and a second buffer area, such that the recording of the acoustic data using the combination of the two buffer areas at least substantially minimizes one or more truncation errors associated with operation of the speech recognition system.

  • Publication number: 20110138061
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for establishing and utilizing terminal server dynamic virtual channels. In some embodiments, a terminal server sends a new channel request to a terminal server. The client receives the new channel request and forwards the new channel request to a listener for a plug-in. The listener creates an instance of the client side plug-in and sends a channel accept to the terminal server. The terminal server receives the channel accept and creates an instance of a server side plug-in. The server and the client agree to use a unique identifier for identifying the established dynamic virtual channel. In other embodiments, data for a dynamic virtual channel is tunneled between computers over a static virtual channel.

  • Publication number: 20110138106
Abstract: A hybrid storage device uses a write cache such as a hard disk drive, for example, to cache data to a solid state drive (SSD). Data is logged sequentially to the write cache and later migrated to the SSD. The SSD is a primary storage that stores data permanently. The write cache is a persistent durable cache that may store data of disk write operations temporarily in a log structured fashion. A migration policy may be used to determine how long to cache the data in the write cache before migrating the data to the SDD. The migration policy may be implemented using one or more migration triggers that cause the contents of the write cache to be flushed to the SSD. Migration triggers may include a timeout trigger, a read threshold trigger, and a migration size trigger, for example.

  • Publication number: 20110131654
Abstract: The present application is directed towards systems and methods for aggressively probing a client side connection to determine and counteract a malicious window size attack or similar behavior from a malfunctioning client. The solution described herein detects when a connection may be under malicious attach via improper or unusual window size settings. Responsive to the detection, the solution described herein will setup probes that determine whether or not the client is malicious and does so within an aggressive time period to avoid the tying up of processing cycles, transport layer sockets and buffers, and other resources of the sender.

  • Patent number: 7953783
Abstract: A filter for high speed digital signal processing. In one embodiment the filter includes a linear, phase-B, interpolating cubic spline filter having a pre-filter section and an interpolating post-filter section. The pre-filter section may be formed to implement any one of a 1-4-1 cubic spline function, a 2-5-2 cubic spline function or a 1-2-1 cubic spline function. The post-filter may be formed using a plurality of running average filters arranged in a cascade (i.e., serial) fashion. The filter can be constructed using significantly fewer independent component parts for a given level of pass band and stop band performance criteria, as compared with a conventional finite impulse response (FIR) filter. The filter is thus ideally suited for implementation with very large scale integration (VLSI) technology, and in a wide variety of electronic devices where high speed digital filtering is required.

Abstract: A wireless content protection system includes a coordinator, a source device, and a sink device. The coordinator includes a scheduler. The source and sink devices each have a content protection manager. One of the content protection manager allocates and releases bandwidth via the coordinator for a test message and a response message for a round-trip time computation. The test message is transmitted in a source-to-sink channel time block. The response message is transmitted in a sink-to-source channel time block. • Publication number: 20110109796
Abstract: Frame rate conversion may be implemented using motion estimation results. Specifically, as part of the motion estimation, pixels may be labeled based on the number of matching pixels in subsequent frames. For example, pixels may be labeled as to whether they have no matching pixels, one matching pixels, or multiple matching pixels. The motion estimation and pixel labeling may then be used to interpolate pixels for frame rate conversion.
