  • Patent number: 7512575
Abstract: A terminological system automates the integration of terminological information into a built-in knowledge base. Input terminology information, which includes input terms and information that specifies relationships among at least two of the input terms, is input to the terminological system. The terminological system parses the input terminology information to generate a logical structure that depicts relationships among the input terms in a format compatible with the built-in knowledge base. Either an independent ontology, comprising the logical structure, is generated, or the knowledge base is extended by logically coupling the logical structure to a node that matches the input term. The terminological system also resolves conflicts if an input term that matches a terminological node in the knowledge base connotes a different meaning than the terminological node.

  • Patent number: 7512912
Abstract: The following techniques for word-level networks are presented: constraints solving, case-based learning and bit-slice solving. Generation of a word-level network to model a constraints problem is presented. The networks utilized have assigned, to each node, a range of permissible values. Constraints are solved using an implication process that explores the deductive consequences of the assigned range values. The implication process may include the following techniques: forward or backward implication and case-based learning. Case-based learning includes recursive or global learning. As part of a constraint-solving process, a random variable is limited to a single value. The limitation may be performed by iterative relaxation. An implication process is then performed. If a conflict results, the value causing the conflict is removed from the random variable by range splitting, and backtracking is performed by assigning another value to the random variable.

  • Patent number: 7512778
Abstract: A method for using an operating system device for non-operating system uses. A false event signal is generated to indicate that a device should be shut down. After this is accomplished, the device is used for a different purpose while the operating system thinks it is inoperative. Once the other use is completed, another false event signal is generated so that the device is activated again and returned to use in the operating system in normal fashion.

  • Publication number: 20090076946
Abstract: An alert system that notifies an Exchange's staff of a trade that appears to be outside of an expected market range of prices includes an input device, determination logic, evaluation logic, and alert logic. The determination logic derives a theoretical no-bust range of prices based on data received from the input device. The theoretical no-bust range of prices are prices above and below a synthesized market price, within which an erroneous trade cannot be cancelled. The evaluation logic monitors trades and compares those trades to the theoretical no-bust range of prices. The alert logic notifies the Exchange's staff when the evaluation logic identifies a potentially erroneous trade that lies outside the theoretical no-bust range of prices. A method of notifying the Exchange of a trade that potentially lies outside of an expected range of prices includes monitoring an input range of prices and deriving the theoretical no-bust range of prices.

  • Publication number: 20090075666
Abstract: Techniques for sending and receiving signaling messages on shared and dedicated channels in a wireless communication system are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first signaling message on a shared channel during a first time period, receive a second signaling message on a dedicated channel during a second time period, and receive a third signaling message on the shared channel during a third time period. The UE may receive traffic data on the shared channel during all time periods. The UE may be handed over from a source Node B to a target Node B during the second time period. The UE may receive the first signaling message via the source Node B, receive the second signaling message via the source and target Node Bs, and receive the third signaling message via the target Node B.

  • Patent number: 7506128
Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) module allows volatile data generated by applications to be stored within volatile data files in the volatile memory. A file system tracks the location of all data files as residing in either volatile memory or nonvolatile memory and facilitates access to the volatile data files in volatile memory in a similar manner to accessing nonvolatile data files in nonvolatile memory. The file system exposes a set of application program interfaces (APIs) to allow applications to access the data files. The same APIs are used to access both volatile data files and nonvolatile data files. When an application requests access to a data file, the file system initially determines whether the application is authorized to gain access to the data file. If it is, the file system next determines whether the data file resides in volatile memory or nonvolatile memory. Once the memory region is identified, the file system identifies the physical location of the data file.

  • Publication number: 20090070478
Abstract: A method for remote computer systems management through an FTP Internet connection. A user operating on a remote client issues requests to the host server. These requests are first sent to an FTP server which enforces security measures. Upon authentication, the FTP server issues appropriate commands and then passes these commands on to the operation system of the host server through an FTP transfer. The commands perform standard features of the operation system which are not normally allowable by traditional FTP. Responses are sent back through the FTP server to the original requestor's remote client computer. A web-based management application may be used to provide an intuitive, user-friendly graphical user interface to be operated in conjunction with a web browser on the local client computer. The user submits requests through this web control panel to initiate operations to be executed on the remote operating system of the host server.

  • Publication number: 20090068232
Abstract: The present invention provides live, attenuated Mycoplasma gallisepticum bacteria that exhibit reduced expression of a protein identified as MGA_0621. In certain embodiments, the attenuated bacteria may additionally exhibit reduced expression of one or more proteins selected from the group consisting of pyruvate dehydrogenase, phosphopyruvate hydratase, 2-deoxyribose-5-phosphate aldolase, and ribosomal protein L35, relative to a wild-type M. gallisepticum bacterium. Also provided are vaccines and vaccination methods involving the use of the live, attenuated M. gallisepticum bacteria, and methods for making live attenuated M. gallisepticum bacteria. An exemplary live, attenuated strain of M. gallisepticum is provided, designated MGx+47, which was shown by proteomics analysis to exhibit significantly reduced expression of MGA_0621, and was shown to be safe and effective when administered as a vaccine against M. gallisepticum infection in chickens.
