  • Publication number: 20090234968
Abstract: In one embodiment, a first request is received for a probe link from a client that has downloaded a page. The request is received from an application. A test may be performed to determine a server that could optimally service a content request from the client. After receiving the request, the content router sends a re-direct to the client where the re-direct causes the client to follow the re-direct to the server. The server then sends a re-direct back to the client, which the client follows by sending a second request to the content router. The second request is associated with the client and the round-trip time is calculated for the server. It is then determined if the location for the server should be designated as the content deliverer to the client based on the calculated round-trip time.

  • Publication number: 20090228594
Abstract: A session-specific policy may be used to define specific configuration and operational characteristics of different types of sessions. One type of session may have one set of characteristics while a second type of session may have a different set of characteristics. The policy may be applied by a server or client, and may be propagated through an enterprise by a policy distribution management system to establish policies across multiple devices. Different session types include sessions from a local console, a remote user, a device-initiated session, a service-initiated session, and other types. Within each session type, policies may be defined for specific instances of each type. For example, different policies may be defined for different devices in a device-initiated policy.

  • Patent number: 7585596
Abstract: Methods and systems of creating a photo-mask to form continuous relief micro-structures in photo-active material. This technology uses a basic amplitude mask or electron-beam to create a binary phase grating with pi-phase depth on a transparent reticle coated with photo-active material. The reticle is then used as a phase mask for the fabrication of analog micro-elements. The mask is used in an image reduction machine such as an optical stepper. The period and duty cycle of the phase gratings can be varied to create the proper analog intensity for the desired micro-profile on the photo-active material. The design, analysis, and fabrication procedure of this invention for prisms and positive micro-lenses has been demonstrated.

  • Publication number: 20090219411
Abstract: Video analytics and a mass storage unit are contained in a camera housing of a video camera. The video analytics analyzes video data produced by the video camera and detects whether there is an occurrence of a defined event of interest. The video data representing the field of view of the scene observed by the video camera are stored in the mass storage unit. The stored video data include video data of first and second qualities. The first quality represents the occurrence in a field of view of the video camera of the defined event of interest detected by the video analytics. The second quality represents the nonoccurrence in the field of view of the defined event of interest detected by the video analytics. Storing video data of first and second qualities reduces system storage capacity demands.

  • Publication number: 20090219639
Abstract: A storage buffer and a hard-disk drive are provided in a video data storage application. The hard-disk drive operates normally in a powered-down state, and video data are stored in the storage buffer during a first time interval. The hard-disk drive is operated in a powered-up state. A portion of the video data stored in the storage buffer is transferred to and stored in the hard-disk drive in the powered-up state during a second time interval that is substantially shorter than the first time interval. The hard-disk drive is returned to the powered-down state. A total hard-disk drive storage time, representing a sum of the second time intervals, spent transferring to and storing a portion of the video data in the hard-disk drive is substantially less than a total buffer storage time, representing a sum of the first time intervals, spent storing the video data in the storage buffer.

  • Publication number: 20090219387
Abstract: An automated electronic video surveillance system enables a high-resolution mega-pixel camera to capture high quality, detailed, magnified images at multiple locations, simultaneously with an overview of the whole scene. A preferred embodiment requiring no moving parts provides full 360-degree continuous viewing with up to 5× all-digital zoom capability. The system performs continuous surveillance and active resolution allocation in the form of a feedback control subsystem that dynamically allocates resources so that important details within a scene receive appropriate scrutiny, while uninteresting areas are imaged at a lower resolution.

  • Patent number: 7575669
Abstract: A method for mitigating fouling in a wash unit used in a hydrocarbon cracking process wherein the fouling is due to the presence of polymers and deposits thereof formed by condensation of carbonyl compounds contained within a feed stream of the wash unit. In one embodiment, the invention provides a method of mitigating fouling in a wash unit by introducing into the feed stream an effective amount of an additive including: an inorganic salt of dithionite; and an epsilon caprolactam or a 6-amino caproic acid derivable therefrom. The additive scavenges the carbonyl compounds contained within the feed stream and dissolves deposits of the polymers to thereby mitigate fouling in the wash unit.

  • Publication number: 20090198619
Abstract: Disclosed are a system and method for aggregating micropayment hash chains. An end user (the “payer”) cryptographically signs “commitments” and transmits then to a vendor. The commitments include an “accumulated count” field which tracks the total number of micropayments made thus far in the payment transaction between the payer and the vendor. The payer can also transmit payment tokens to the vendor. These payment tokens include micropayments verified by a hash chain. When the vendor seeks reimbursement from a broker, the vendor tells the broker the total number of micropayments in the payment transaction and sends verification information to the broker. The broker checks this information against a verification system established with the payer. If the information is verified to be correct, then the broker reimburses the vendor for the services provided and charges the payer. The verification information ensures that the payer and vendor cannot cheat each other.
