  • Publication number: 20110152507
Abstract: The invention provides processes for obtaining a precursor for insulin, analogs or derivatives thereof having correctly bonded cystine bridges. The process involves solubilizing a precursor of insulin, insulin analog or derivatives in an aqueous solution or a buffer containing cysteine or cysteine hydrochloride and one or more of chaotropic auxiliary. The solubilized precursors are refolded by adding diluent to the solubilized mixture (reverse dilution). Further, the solubilized precursors, wherein the concentration of precursor in reaction mixture is more than 0.65 g/litre can also be refolded by diluting the reaction mixture with a diluent optionally comprising about 5-40% v/v of one or more of alcoholic or aprotic solvents.

  • Publication number: 20110131998
Abstract: In a conventional secondary fuel nozzle for a gas turbine combustion system, secondary air enters and flows around pegs to mix with fuel injected through holes in pegs. Because the pegs are in the air flow area, undesirable pressure drops occur adversely affecting turbine's efficiency and leading to higher emissions. A novel secondary fuel nozzle is provided in which fuel is injected upstream of the secondary air entry location, which allows the pegs to be removed from the flow area. An example secondary fuel nozzle includes a nozzle body delivering fuel, a nozzle housing surrounding the nozzle body and defining air passages for the secondary air to enter and flow toward an end of the nozzle body, and a premix fuel unit positioned upstream of the air passages injecting fuel delivered by the nozzle body into the secondary air for premixing prior to combustion.

  • Patent number: 7883839
Abstract: A method is provided for creating a plurality of substantially uniform nano-scale features in a substantially parallel manner in which an array of micro-lenses is positioned on a surface of a substrate, where each micro-lens includes a hole such that the bottom of the hole corresponds to a portion of the surface of the substrate. A flux of charged particles, e.g., a beam of positive ions of a selected element, is applied to the micro-lens array. The flux of charged particles is focused at selected focal points on the substrate surface at the bottoms of the holes of the micro-lens array. The substrate is tilted at one or more selected angles to displace the locations of the focal points across the substrate surface. By depositing material or etching the surface of the substrate, several substantially uniform nanometer sized features may be rapidly created in each hole on the surface of the substrate in a substantially parallel manner.

  • Publication number: 20110005229
Abstract: Embodiments of this invention provide a premixed pilot assembly for use with a fuel nozzle for a turbine. The level of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emitted by the pilot is reduced by mixing the fuel and air fast, at the end of the pilot nozzle, thereby avoiding significant zones of rich fuel and air mixtures. The air is mixed with the fuel through the use of openings in a first cylinder and a second cylinder, one of which carries air and one of which carries pilot fuel. The openings can be configured as necessary to obtain a desired effect on the pilot.

  • Publication number: 20100211762
Abstract: A system to implement a zero overhead software pipelined (SFP) loop includes a Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) processor having an N number of execution slots. The VLIW processor executes a plurality of instructions in parallel without any limitation of an instruction buffer size. A program memory receives a Program Memory address to fetch an instruction packet. The program memory is closely coupled with the instruction buffer size to implement the zero overhead software pipelined (SFP) loop. The size of the zero overhead software pipelined (SFP) loop can exceed the instruction buffer size. A CPU control register includes a block count and an iteration count. The block count is loaded into a block counter and counts the plurality of instructions executed in the SFP loop, and the iteration count is loaded into an iteration counter and counts a number of iterations of the SFP loop based on the block count.
