  • Publication number: 20080025613
Abstract: A technique for stylus-based syllabic input that is fast and easy and does not require any additional hardware and can be deployed on a handheld device is described. In one example embodiment, this is accomplished by writing a base syllabic character consisting of a vowels or consonant in a writing area. One or more modifiers that are displayed as icons substantially around the writing area of a syllabic level user interface are then selected to form a desired syllabic character. The one or more modifiers are arranged at familiar/natural positions around the base character's writing area to facilitate entry/selection of modifiers and to reduce eye movement/cognitive load on the user. The syllabic characters are then accumulated locally until a desired word is formed, to reduce visual disconnect between the input interface and the end application, and to provide context for formation of the desired word.

  • Patent number: 7325209
Abstract: This invention is a high-level language to specify electronic system design patterns for functional verification. This invention includes automatic translation of the high-level language specification into assertion code from these patterns and temporal properties for design verification. This eliminates the need to code extra RTL to handle features such as pipelines and bus priorities. Such common features are specified only in high-level patterns and temporal properties to be verified. This is advantageous because less verification code to be written, automated synthesis of assertions enforces monitor-style of writing assertions rather than generator-style, and the high-level code can be seamlessly migrated to another verification tool by producing another code generator for the new assertion language.

  • Publication number: 20070255480
Abstract: The present invention provides a collision avoidance apparatus and method employing stereo vision applications for adaptive vehicular control. The stereo vision applications are comprised of a road detection function and a vehicle detection and tracking function. The road detection function makes use of three-dimensional point data, computed from stereo image data, to locate the road surface ahead of a host vehicle. Information gathered by the road detection function is used to guide the vehicle detection and tracking function, which provides lead motion data to a vehicular control system of the collision avoidance apparatus. Similar to the road detection function, stereo image data is used by the vehicle detection and tracking function to determine the depth of image scene features, thereby providing a robust means for identifying potential lead vehicles in a headway direction of the host vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7190191
Abstract: An input buffer circuit and associated method operable in a normal mode and a hot-plug mode. In one example, the input buffer has an input and a buffer output, and the input buffer may include a pull-up path coupled between a first circuit supply and the buffer output; a pull-down path coupled between the buffer output and a ground reference voltage; a first transistor coupled between the input and the pull-up path to activate the pull-up path; a second transistor coupled between the input and the pull-down path to activate the pull-down path; and a third transistor for protecting the pull-up path from over-voltage. The input buffer circuit may be configured to prevent an over-voltage condition on each of the plurality of transistors and the input buffer circuit may be configured to allow a hot-plug operation.

  • Patent number: 6928936
Abstract: The present invention provides a device for feeding pulverized coal to a furnace, such as a drop tube furnace. The feeding system consists of a feed hopper, a pneumatic vibrator positioned on the periphery of the feeder hopper, a needle valve arrangement in the said feed hopper, a depth gauge micrometer, a distribution chamber with primary and secondary airline at the bottom of the said feed hopper. Adjusting the pressure of compressed air allows setting of the frequency of vibration of the pneumatic vibrator. The needle valve arrangement in conjunction with the vibratory hopper controls the feed rate. The rate of coal flow is measured by the depth gauge micrometer. The distribution chamber with primary and secondary airline at the bottom of the said feed hopper allows uniform mixing of air with coal before being charged into the furnace reactor.

  • Patent number: 6842320
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a drive and biasing circuit for an input/output stage of a device. Embodiments of the present invention provide live-insertion protection by driving and biasing various nodes in the input/output stage. Embodiments of the present invention also provide over-voltage protection by biasing various nodes in the input/output stage during normal and live-insertion operating conditions. Embodiments of the present invention utilize the voltage on the supply and/or voltage present on the input/output terminal to provide the drive and bias voltage levels. Embodiments of the present invention are thus able to turn off current paths and protect various junctions against breakdown during over-voltage and live-insertion operating conditions.
