  • Patent number: 7580176
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for testing the electrical characteristics of reflective displays, including interferometric modulator displays. In one embodiment, a controlled voltage is applied to conductive leads in the display and the resulting current is measured. The voltage may be controlled so as to ensure that interferometric modulators do not actuate during the resistance measurements. Also disclosed are methods for conditioning interferometric modulator display by applying a voltage waveform that causes actuation of interferometric modulators in the display.

  • Publication number: 20090210183
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems for computing, analyzing, and improving integrated circuit yield and quality are disclosed herein. For example, in one exemplary method disclosed herein, information is received from processing test responses of integrated circuits designed for functional use in electronic devices. In this embodiment, the information is indicative of integrated circuit failures observed during testing of the integrated circuits and of possible yield limiting factors causing the integrated circuit failures. Probabilities that one or more of the possible yield limiting factors in the integrated circuits actually caused the integrated circuit failures are determined by statistically analyzing the received information. The probabilities that one or more possible yield limiting factors actually caused the integrated circuit failures are reported.

  • Publication number: 20090207796
Abstract: A method and apparatus i.e. Base Station for allocating resources in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes generating a plurality of first groups of allocation units based on one or more of a plurality of Modulation and Coding Schemes (MCSs) and traffic characteristics in the wireless communication system. The method further includes generating a second group of slots including resource allocation information for mapping first groups of allocation units to Mobile Stations (MSs) based on MCSs and traffic characteristics associated with first groups of allocation units and the MSs. Thereafter, the method persistently allocates each first group of allocation units to the MSs based on one or more of the resource allocation information and a communication state associated with each MS. Further, the method also identifies if each MS has succeeded in decoding the persistent resource allocation sent in the second group of slots.

  • Patent number: 7577996
Abstract: Devices, systems and related methods are disclosed for improving operational security of a network and/or network devices, such as wireless access points (APs). In the disclosed systems, a network device is not fully operational until it is attached to a network and downloads sensitive information. The information is stored in the network device so that when the device is disconnected from the network, the sensitive information is erased from the device, making the device inoperative and removing sensitive information, such as passwords, network security keys, or the like. Disabling the network device in this manner not only prevents the theft of sensitive network access information, by also discourages theft of the device itself because it cannot be used on another network without the configuration information. In addition to downloading configuration information, the network device can also download an executable image that is likewise not permanently resident on the device.

  • Patent number: 7576901
Abstract: The width and location of a hysteresis window of an interferometric modulator may be altered by adjusting various physical characteristics of the interferometric modulator. Thus, depending on the particular application for which the interferometric modulators are manufactured, the width and location of the hysteresis window may be altered. For example, in some applications, reducing the power required to operate an array of interferometric modulators may be an important consideration. In other applications, the speed of the interferometric modulators may be of more importance, where the speed of an interferometric modulator, as used herein, refers to the speed of actuating and relaxing the moveable mirror. In other applications, the cost and ease of manufacturing may be of most importance. Systems and methods are introduced that allow selection of a width and location of a hysteresis window by adjusting various physical characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7573837
Abstract: A method for establishing multicast PoC communication is disclosed. To establish multicast PoC communication, a multicast-join process will be coupled with a PoC session setup process, and the PoC server will function as a multicast content server, to multicast PoC communications to the PoC session participants. For example, when a party initiates a PoC session, the PoC server may acquire a multicast flow-ID from a multicast session manager, and the PoC server may convey that multicast flow-ID to each participant within the PoC session setup signaling. Upon receipt of the multicast flow-ID, each participant may then engage in signaling with the multicast session manager, to join the associated multicast group. And the multicast session manager may direct the PoC server to begin multicasting the associated flow to the group members, which the PoC server will do once it begins receiving PoC bearer data from one of the PoC session participants.

  • Patent number: 7574212
Abstract: A multi-mode mobile station includes a first interface for wireless communication with a wireless local area network (WLAN) and a second interface for wireless communication with a wireless wide area network (WWAN). The multi-mode mobile station may become engaged in one or more communication sessions via a first wireless network. Session information regarding these one or more communication sessions is stored in a storage system. In response to a handoff request, a control system evaluates the session information to determine which of the communication sessions, if any, can be continued via the second wireless network, in accordance with a policy. The user may be notified of any sessions that can not be continued via the second wireless network and/or continued at a reduced level of performance. If the user opts to complete the handoff, continuable sessions are continued via the second wireless network and non-continuable sessions are dropped.
