  • Patent number: 7687164
Abstract: A fuel cell system is provided, including an HFR measurement device in electrical communication with a fuel cell stack. The HFR measurement is used online to measure an HFR of the fuel cell stack suitable for calculation of a d(HFR)/d(RH) ratio. A humidity regulator is provided in fluid communication with the fuel cell stack. A controller periodically changes stack operating conditions to perturb an RH of the fuel cell stack, process the HFR response, and compute the d(HFR)/d(RH) ratio. A method for online identification and control of the fuel cell stack humidification is also provided. The d(HFR)/d(RH) ratio is an auxiliary measurement of membrane hydration which is used as a feedback for hydration control.

  • Patent number: 7687163
Abstract: A method of operating an electrochemical conversion assembly is provided. According to the method, an assembly warm-up operation is executed by increasing the temperature TSTACK of the membrane electrode assembly. Next, stoichiometry-based control of the relative humidity (RH) of one of the reactant flowfields is initiated when the temperature TSTACK exceeds a threshold temperature T0. The stoichiometry-based RH control comprises a reduction in the relative humidity from a value RHWET exceeding 100% relative humidity to a value RHDRY less than 100% relative humidity. The relative humidity value RHDRY is sufficiently low to permit reduction of an initial membrane hydration ?WET in the membrane electrode assembly.

  • Publication number: 20100070941
Abstract: Achieving clock timing closure in designing an integrated circuit involves virtually synthesizing a clock network for the integrated circuit design to generate virtual clock buffering in the clock network before a point in the design flow at which the clock network is actually synthesized and committed to a netlist. Timing violations are determined for clock gates generated by the virtual clock buffering. Clock gating transforms are evaluated for the clock gates having the timing violations, based on recalculated clock and data path delays, to incrementally virtually synthesize the clock network. The clock gating transforms that result in the best timing gains are committed to the netlist. The clock network is then actually synthesized for the integrated circuit design, and design changes, due to the actual clock network synthesis, are committed to the netlist.

  • Publication number: 20100064364
Abstract: A method of processing multiple workload using virtualized operating system environments. The creation of a new user in a global operating system may automatically cause the creation of a working partition (WPAR) instance. The user will be associated with the WPAR instance and a virtualized operating system environment will be created from the global operating system within the WPAR instance. Within the WPAR instance, the user may be assigned a root identification which enables the user to have root access privileges to perform operations or processes that may only be performed by a root user. The removal of a user from the system also results in the deletion of the associated WPAR.

  • Publication number: 20100064105
Abstract: Methods and systems of leveraging synchronous communication protocols to enable asynchronous application and line of business behaviors. An application platform may be provided and configured to provide a pending state for any synchronous operation. The pending state may indicate that the operation has not been completed yet. For an application which may know how to track an operation that has a pending state, the application may control when the operation enters and exits the pending state. The application may communicate to the application platform to hold off on other operations dependent upon the pending operation when the pending operation is not complete. For an application which does not know how to track an operation that has a pending state, the application platform may ignore the pending state of the operation and proceed to other operations. Accordingly, the synchronous user experience is preserved where a straightforward, down-level user interface and experience is appropriate.

  • Publication number: 20100064263
Abstract: A technique and apparatus for reducing the complexity of optimizing the performance of a designed semiconductor circuit is disclosed. This technique of path compaction is used to reduce the time taken for optimization. The path compaction tool is used in design optimization to reduce the optimizer execution time. Compaction helps readability, usability and reduces synthesis and static timing analyzer (STA) runtime. The aim of path compaction is to reduce the number of constraints the optimizer has to go through during the optimization process. Path compaction has three dimensions. The first is to reduce number of “-through” elements in the constraint, thereby reducing the complexity of constraints developed The second is to combine the paths to reduce the number of constraints. The third is to combine the constraints to reduce the number of constraints to be checked and optimized. Path compaction is used when generating timing exception using timing exception tools.

  • Publication number: 20100053148
Abstract: A light guide device includes a light guide body and two or more pluralities of spaced-apart slits. The slits are formed by undercuts in the light guide body. Sidewalls of the slits form facets that redirect light impinging on the facets. In some embodiments, the light guide body is attached to a light source. The light source emits light that is injected into the light guide body and the slits redirect the light out of the light guide body and towards a desired target. In some embodiments, the target is a display and a first plurality of slits directs light from the light source across the light guide body and over the face of the display. A second plurality of slits then directs light out of the light guide body and towards the display.

  • Publication number: 20100048228
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to methods, apparatuses and systems for providing a service, utilizing Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), to a user in a communications network. According to one example of the invention, a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) message is received from an unstructured supplementary service data (USSD) server or gateway. Relevant content is then retrieved from a database upon receiving the HTTP message. A USSD message content is created based on a set of parameters, the USSD message content is sent to the USSD server, and the relevant content may then be provided to a user terminal in a text message.
