  • Patent number: 7320017
Abstract: A method for communicating messages from a media gateway is disclosed. A thread pair comprising a communication protocol control stack thread and one or more media gateway adapter threads is assigned to a message from a media gateway. The thread pair is associated with a processor. The message is received from the media gateway at the communication protocol control stack thread, and is routed to a media gateway adapter thread corresponding to a communication protocol. • Publication number: 20080007748
Abstract: This specification describes technologies relating to compositing of image data. In general, one aspect of the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in a method that includes generating color space transformations for respective imagery sources, wherein generating a color space transformation includes preparing first and second transforms for a given imagery source, wherein the first transform restores an original scene luminance in linear light, and the second transform adjusts chromaticities with respect to a target look color space. The method further includes obtaining at least two images corresponding to respective ones of the imagery sources; converting each of the at least two images to the target look color space using a corresponding one of the color space transformations; and compositing the converted at least two images into a single image in the target look color space.

  • Publication number: 20080010559
Abstract: A method and computer program product for error monitoring partitions in a computer system. Provided to each partition is a partition status indicator (PSI) denoting a RUNNING or FAIL status of the partition. During booting, it is ascertained whether each partition has the RUNNING status or the FAIL status, and the PSI of each partition is accordingly set to the RUNNING status or the FAIL status, respectively. An error procedure performed for each first partition whose partition status indicator indicates the FAIL status includes: copying each error entry in the ELA of the first partition whose ESI indicates the UNREAD status into the ELA of a second (running) partition; setting the ESI to the READ status for each copied error entry in the ELA of the first partition; and having the ESI set to the UNREAD status for each copied error entry in the ELA of the second partition.

  • Publication number: 20080005608
Abstract: A method and computer program product for error monitoring partitions in a computer system. A partition status buffer (PSB) denotes a status (GOOD, BAD, NOCARE) of each partition of at least two partitions. The BAD status denotes that the partition has encountered at least one error that is currently unrepaired. A global supervisor mapping (GSM) associates each partition (designated as a supervised partition) with a supervisor partition in a one-to-one mapping. The supervisor partition determines its supervised partition from the GSM and ascertains the status of its supervised partition from the PSB. If the status of the supervised partition is BAD then the supervisor partition performs a recovery procedure. The recovery procedure: obtains a grant of access to physical and logical resources of the supervised partition which contains error data of the supervised partition; gathers the error data; sets the status of the supervised partition to the NOCARE status.

  • Publication number: 20080002886
Abstract: Various technologies and techniques are disclosed for improving handwriting recognition using a neural network by allowing a user to provide samples. A recognition operation is performed on the user's handwritten input, and the user is not satisfied with the recognition result. The user selects an option to train the neural network on one or more characters to improve the recognition results. The user is prompted to specify samples for the certain character, word, or phrase, and the neural network is adjusted for the certain character, word, or phrase. Handwritten input is later received from the user. A recognition operation is performed on the handwritten input using the neural network that was adjusted for the certain character or characters.

  • Publication number: 20070299815
Abstract: Various embodiments can utilize information that is displayed for a user to automatically generate a list of keywords and use that list as a means to display supplemental information that is relevant to the keywords. In at least some embodiments, the displayed information is analyzed using an extraction algorithm to identify words or, more generally, character strings of interest. If these words or character strings of interest are determined to constitute relevant search terms or “keywords”, then a special user interface portion can be used to display this supplemental information along with the information that is already displayed for the user. This supplemental information can include the search terms themselves, ads that pertain to the search terms, and/or search results that have been ascertained from a web search engine.

  • Patent number: 7313107
Abstract: A method and system for multicasting messages to wireless terminals. A multicast radio-packet link is established between a packet gateway and a base station system respectively for each cell sector served by the packet gateway. Each multicast link has an active state when any wireless terminals in the corresponding cell sector are in a multicast state prepared to receive multicast messages, and an inactive state when no wireless terminals in the corresponding cell sector are in the multicast state. When the packet gateway receives a multicast message, it sends the message over each active multicast link but not over any inactive multicast link. Thus, a single copy of the multicast message can conveniently be sent just to each of the cell sectors that is currently serving at least one wireless terminal that is in a multicast state.

  • Publication number: 20070291347
Abstract: A light modulator is arranged as an array of rows and columns of interferometric display elements. Each element is divided into sub-rows of sub-elements. Array connection lines transmit operating signals to the display elements, with one connection line corresponding to one row of display elements in the array. Sub-array connection lines electrically connect to each array connection line. Switches transmit the operating signals from each array connection line to the sub-rows to effect gray scale modulation.

  • Patent number: 7310664
Abstract: A network switch having a unified, adaptive management paradigm for wireless network devices is disclosed. The switch includes configurable ports for connecting devices. A software application running on the switch allows a network administrator to selectively configure each port to support either a wired device or wireless device. Configuration information and software images that are needed for operation of the wireless device are associated with the port. When a wireless device is first plugged into the switch port, it downloads its configuration directly from the switch port. By storing the configuration information and images at the switch and automatically downloading them to the wireless devices, the task of configuring the devices is greatly simplified for the network administrator. This is particularly advantageous in heterogeneous network environments that support both wired and wireless devices, and where wireless device are readily moved to different ports.

  • Patent number: 7310179
Abstract: The width and location of a hysteresis window of an interferometric modulator may be altered by adjusting various physical characteristics of the interferometric modulator. Thus, depending on the particular application for which the interferometric modulators are manufactured, the width and location of the hysteresis window may be altered. For example, in some applications, reducing the power required to operate an array of interferometric modulators may be an important consideration. In other applications, the speed of the interferometric modulators may be of more importance, where the speed of an interferometric modulator, as used herein, refers to the speed of actuating and relaxing the moveable mirror. In other applications, the cost and ease of manufacturing may be of most importance. Systems and methods are introduced that allow selection of a width and location of a hysteresis window by adjusting various physical characteristics.
