  • Publication number: 20140257006
Abstract: A process for increasing the yield of C3 olefin in fluidized bed catalytic cracking of hydrocarbon feedstocks is disclosed. C4 fraction produced from the cracking of hydrocarbon feedstock in the primary reaction zone (riser), optionally with external source of C4 stream is fed into the stripper which acts as a secondary reaction zone at an elevated temperature and at an optimum WHSV. The elevated temperature is achieved by injecting a part of the regenerated catalyst from regenerator, which is at a higher temperature, directly into the stripper through a dedicated additional lift line. This raises the activity of catalyst inside the stripper. The direct injection of regenerated catalyst into the stripper, besides producing higher yields of propylene, improves the stripping efficiency leading to enhanced recovery of strippable hydrocarbons.

  • Publication number: 20140258236
Abstract: The disclosed techniques include generation of a single index table when backing up data in a first backup format to a backup storage system that uses a second backup format. Using the single index table, a query for a data item can be answered by searching the single index table. The single index table avoids having to search through multiple index tables, each corresponding to a different backup format that may be used for backing up the searched data item.

  • Patent number: 8832498
Abstract: A system and algorithm to map alerts to a problem domain is provided so that the size of a codebook for the problem domain may be reduced and correlated independently of the general system and/or other problem domains in the system topology. When one or more symptoms of a fault appear in the system topology, the problem domain is discovered dynamically and the codebook for the problem domain generated dynamically. The system described herein provides for computation of a problem domain that has a reduced object repository for a set of objects which are directly or indirectly impacted by monitored symptoms. Multiple problem domains may be independently computed in order to build one or more codebooks. Each problem domain may be smaller compared to a system topology resulting in scale and performance improvements for codebook computation and correlation.

  • Publication number: 20140250269
Abstract: Storage data is distributed across a first plurality of physical disks in a first enclosure using at least one redundant array of independent disks (RAID) technique. This creates a plurality of virtual volumes. This plurality includes at least a first virtual volume and a second virtual volume. The storage data is copied (i.e., backed up) to a second plurality of physical disks in a second enclosure. The storage data in the second enclosure is distributed across the second plurality of physical disks according to a declustered RAID technique. The declustered RAID allocations each correspond to the virtual volumes created in the first enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20140233366
Abstract: A method and system for reducing storage requirements and speeding up storage operations by reducing the storage of redundant data includes receiving a request that identifies one or more data objects to which to apply a storage operation. For each data object, the storage system determines if the data object contains data that matches another data object to which the storage operation was previously applied. If the data objects do not match, then the storage system performs the storage operation in a usual manner. However, if the data objects do match, then the storage system may avoid performing the storage operation.

  • Publication number: 20140201154
Abstract: An information management system according to certain aspects allows users to share a portion of a file (e.g., a document) stored in secondary storage. The user may specify a portion of a secondary storage file to share and send a link to the portion to another user. The other user can access the shared portion from the link, and just the shared portion may be restored from secondary storage. The system according to certain aspects provides a native view of secondary storage data on a client computing device. The index data and/or metadata relating to secondary storage data may be stored in native application format for access via the native source application.

  • Publication number: 20140201155
Abstract: The data storage system according to certain aspects can implement partial file restore, where only a portion of the secondary copy of a file is restored. Such portion may be designated by one or more application offsets for the file. The system may provide an in-chunk index that includes mapping information between the application offsets and the secondary copy offsets. Chunks may refer to logical data units in which secondary copies are stored, and the in-chunk index for a chunk may be stored in secondary storage with the chunk. Because the mapping information may not be provided at a fixed interval, the system can search through application offsets in the in-chunk index to locate the secondary copy offset corresponding to the portion application offset(s). In this manner, the system may restore the designated portion of the secondary copy in a fast and efficient manner by using the in-chunk index.

  • Publication number: 20140197355
Abstract: Storage systems based on latent heat storage have high-energy storage density, which reduces the footprint of the system and the cost. However, phase change materials (PCMs), such as NaNO3, NaCl, KNO3, have very low thermal conductivities. To enhave the storage of PCMs, macroencapsulation of PCMs was performed using a metal oxide, such as SiO2 or a graphene-SiO2, over polyimide-coated or nickel-embedded, polyimide-coated pellets The macro encapsulation provides a self-supporting structure, enhances the heat transfer rate, and provides a cost effective and reliable solution for thermal energy storage for use in solar thermal power plants. NaNO3 was selected for thermal storage in a temperature range of 300° C. to 500° C. The PCM was encapsulated in a metal oxide cell using self-assembly reactions, hydrolysis, and simultaneous chemical oxidation at various temperatures.
