  • Publication number: 20120150826
Abstract: A distributed, deduplicated storage system according to certain embodiments is arranged in a parallel configuration including multiple deduplication nodes. Deduplicated data is distributed across the deduplication nodes. The deduplication nodes can be networked together and communicate with one another according using a light-weight, customized communication scheme (e.g., a scheme based on FTP or HTTP). In some cases, deduplication management information including deduplication signatures and/or other metadata is stored separately from the deduplicated data in deduplication management nodes, improving performance and scalability.

  • Patent number: 8195685
Abstract: A service grouping and allocation method and system. The method includes retrieving, by a computing system, a list of candidate services. The computing system retrieves service identification techniques data associated with the candidate services and identifies process elements associated with first candidate services of the candidate services. The first candidate services comprise a process decomposition service identification technique. It is determined if the computing system comprises first mapping data indicating relationships between the process elements and associated functional areas. The computing system generates and stores results data associated with the relationships.

  • Patent number: 8163035
Abstract: This disclosure relates to interference management for a security and tracking system of an electronic device. In one embodiment, during a startup process, an electronic device executes a security program and automatically attempts to access a first web server to ascertain whether the electronic devices has been reported as stolen. In response to an unsuccessful attempt to access the first web server, the electronic device may automatically attempt to access a second web server for data regarding operational status of the first web server. In response to unsuccessful attempts to access the first and second web servers, the electronic device may automatically present an interference alert to provide notification that the electronic device will be disabled if the electronic device continues to experience interference. The electronic device may be automatically disabled in response to a predetermined number of startup sequences with interference. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
