  • Publication number: 20110093157
Abstract: There is provided a method of selecting a maintenance operation to be performed on a device. An exemplary method comprises determining a health parameter for the device, the health parameter being predictive of a probability of failure of the device based on archival data about a plurality of devices similar to the device. The exemplary method also comprises performing a first maintenance operation on the device if the health parameter indicates that the probability of failure of the device is below a threshold. The exemplary method additionally comprises performing a second maintenance operation on the device if the health parameter indicates that the probability of failure of the device exceeds the threshold.

The adjustable device includes a first member for movement in a direction generally perpendicular to the ring element. A second member is pivotally connected to the first member for angular movement with respect to the ring. A third member is mounted on the second member for movement in a direction parallel to the second member and with respect to a circumference of the planar ring element. The method includes providing an external fixation system and inserting a k-wire through a first piece of bone and affixing the k-wire or half pin to the ring element. • Publication number: 20110015573
Abstract: A safety intravenous cannula and catheter device is disclosed. The device permits easy insertion of a cannula made of a biocompatible material into the vein with a guide needle and withdrawal of the guide needle into a safety chamber with an in- built locking mechanism with completely prevents removal and/reuse of the needle. The needle before insertion is protected by a biocompatible sheath which when inserted into the vein and after withdrawal of the needle acts as catheter. Similarly, after withdrawal the needle is locked inside a safety chamber in such a manner that at no time does the user come into contact with the needle or in any danger of accidental injury.

  • Publication number: 20110016091
Abstract: Content-aware systems and methods for improving de-duplication, or single instancing, in storage operations. In certain examples, backup agents on client devices parse application-specific data to identify data objects that are candidates for de-duplication. The backup agents can then insert markers or other indictors in the data that identify the location(s) of the particular data objects. Such markers can, in turn, assist a de-duplication manager to perform object-based de-duplication and increase the likelihood that like blocks within the data are identified and single instanced. In other examples, the agents can further determine if a data object of one file type can or should be single-instanced with a data object of a different file type. Such processing of data on the client side can provide for more efficient storage and back-end processing.

  • Patent number: 7873110
Abstract: An interrupt sensitive extract byte instruction scheme is presented herein. The interrupt sensitive extract by instruction extracts bytes from data, depending on the presence of an interrupt. The extract byte instruction extracts bytes from data in the absence of the interrupt and does not extract bytes in the presence of the interrupt. The interrupt can be triggered by a set of counters that count the number of extracted bytes. By loading the counters with a particular number, the interrupt can be generated when the particular number of data bytes is extracted.
