Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include methods for cleaning wax, substantially equivalent impurities, and other contaminants from porous stones in historical monuments and artworks using nondestructive means. According to one embodiment the method for removal of contaminants from porous stones using laser comprises the following method steps: (a) identifying regions of a contaminant on the porous stone monument; (b) characterizing the contaminant on the porous stone monument; (c) exposing the contaminant on the porous stone monument to irradiation from a laser characterized by a wavelength, a pulse length, a repetition rate, and a laser energy fluence determined and optimized for a given contaminant-porous stone system and the laser characteristics; and (d) adaptively evaluating the cleaning results by quantifying the thickness of the remaining contaminant.

Abstract: In particular embodiments, a monitoring processor may receive an interrupt from status monitoring logic associated with a monitored processor that has experienced an error. Interrupt logic at the monitoring processor may interrupt the monitored processor to initiate a standby mode of operation in the monitored processor. Core dump logic at the monitoring processor may retrieve a core dump from a memory associated with the monitored processor via a communication channel connecting the monitoring processor to the monitored processor or to the memory. Abstract: A method of manufacturing a guarantee seal with a pull tab for containers includes applying adhesive to a polymeric film in intermittent strips, laminating the polymeric film with the adhesive in intermittent strips to a second film, the second film including an EPE or PE layer, an aluminium foil layer and a sealing substrate to obtain a laminated film with strips of adhesive and strips without adhesive, die cutting the laminated film to form cut bands in the shape of circles so that a first side of the circle has the strip with adhesive and a second side of the circle has the strip without adhesive.

Abstract: A water-in-hydrocarbon emulsion includes a water phase, a hydrocarbon phase and a surfactant, wherein the water phase is present in an amount greater than or equal to about 5% vol. with respect to volume of the emulsion, and the water phase and the surfactant are present at a ratio by volume of the water phase to the surfactant of at least about 1. A method for preparing the emulsion is also provided.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a document having human-readable content and a position identifying encoding pattern. A printer places text or other content onto a substrate, such as paper, and a filter material application system applies transparent filter material to at least a portion of that content to only modify the reflectivity of the content at a predetermined wavelength. Because the reflectivity of the position identifying encoding pattern remains unchanged, it is distinguishable from the content and can be read at the predetermined wavelength. The position identifying pattern can take a number of forms including a number of dots printed at predetermined positions on the substrate on an imaginary grid.

Abstract: A biomaterial for suturing comprising a physiologically compatible support material coated with a cellular population with proliferative and/or differentiation capacity, characteristics which facilitate the regeneration of the sutured tissue. This biomaterial for suturing not only brings together the two edges of an open wound, but also contributes actively to the healing process, thereby accelerating the tissue repair process. Also disclosed are methods for making the biomaterial and methods for using the biomaterials in therapy.

Abstract: There is disclosed an on-line print network comprising a print merchant computer, and a plurality of print service providers. Within each print service provider, orders are satisfied efficiently by optimizing throughput of print jobs within the print service provider, whilst at the same time, minimizing media wastage and achieving high printer device utilization, under control of a print manager computer interfacing with the print merchant computer on the one hand, and with the plurality of printer devices on the other hand.

Abstract: An assembly (30) controls the amount of downward movement of a counterweight (24) within an elevator system (20). By limiting the downward movement of the counterweight (24), a desired overhead clearance above an elevator car (22) can be maintained. A disclosed example includes at least one safety device (80, 84, 86, 88) on top of the elevator car (22) to provide an indication for when a holding member (34) should allow a stop member of the assembly (30) to move into a position to limit ELEVATOR CAR the downward movement of the counterweight (24). In a disclosed example, the stop member (32) moves into an employed position by the force of gravity and is manually moveable back into a retracted position when it is not needed. A disclosed example includes a guide member (60) that facilitates controlling the position of the stop member (32) when it is in the employed position.

Abstract: A content provider provides a content provider and service identification to a collection controller. The collection controller retrieves content provider and service specific service provision characteristics from a user subscription database and sets these service provision characteristics as a filter in a service provision control device to be used in the provision of a service from the content provider to the user equipment. Thus, the content provider, through the retrieved content server & service related characteristics from the user subscriber database, can influence the charging and transmission policies used by service provision control device for providing the service.

Abstract: A system and method for mounting a heat sink associated with an electronics component are disclosed. The disclosure provides a method including connecting a CPU support bracket to a board using one or more support bracket connectors, mounting a CPU to the CPU support bracket, and mounting a heat sink assembly to the CPU support bracket using one or more heat sink connectors configured to mate with the one or more support bracket connectors. The disclosure also provides a method for mounting a heat sink assembly associated with a CPU, including removing one or more socket screws installed at one or more corners of a socket disposed in a board, installing one or more support bracket connectors configured to mate with respective holes in the board, and mounting a heat sink assembly to the support bracket connectors using one or more heat sink connectors configured to mate with the one or more support bracket connectors.

Abstract: Controlling a transmission rate of packet traffic includes receiving packets from a network processor. The packets are stored in a buffer associated with a processor. If an occupancy level of the buffer is greater than a predetermined threshold, it is determined that the processor is congested. A message is transmitted to the network processor indicating the processor is congested.
