  • Patent number: 8404583
Abstract: A method for improving conformality of oxide layers along sidewalls of vias in semiconductor substrates includes forming a nitride layer over an upper surface of a semiconductor substrate and forming a via extending through the nitride layer and into the semiconductor substrate. The via may have a depth of at least about 50 ?m from a top surface of the nitride layer and an opening of less than about 10 ?m at the top surface of the nitride layer. The method also includes forming an oxide layer over the nitride layer and along sidewalls and bottom of the via. The oxide layer may be formed using a thermal chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process at a temperature of less than about 450° C., where a thickness of the oxide layer at the bottom of the via is at least about 50% of a thickness of the oxide layer at the top surface of the nitride layer.

  • Publication number: 20130016951
Abstract: Fiber optic cable mounting adapters and related fiber optic cable assemblies and methods for attaching an external mounting device to the fiber optic cable are disclosed. The fiber optic mounting adapters can be configured to be secured to a portion of a fiber optic cable. The fiber optic mounting adapters can also be configured to be secured to external mounting devices compatible to be secured to fiber optic equipment, to secure the fiber optic mounting adapter, and in turn the fiber optic cable, to the fiber optic equipment. Securing a portion of a fiber optic cable can reduce or prevent bending strain from being propagated along the fiber optic cable. Undesired bending strain of a fiber optic cable can cause undesired optical attenuation. Bending strain can also risk damaging optical fibers, such as furcated legs, exposed from the end portion of the fiber optic cable.

  • Publication number: 20120328249
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to cable assemblies having at least one fiber optic connector and methods for making the same. In particular, fiber optic cable assemblies having a crimp band disposed about a cushioning member on a fiber optic cable along with methods for making the same are disclosed. The cable assemblies including the cushioning member are advantageous since they provide a load distribution of the crimp band about the fiber optic cable which may preserve optical performance and/or enable the use of fiber optic cables having smaller diameters. Additionally, the fiber optic cables of the cable assemblies may be sub-units of a larger cable.

  • Publication number: 20120058281
Abstract: A method for forming a pre-metal dielectric (PMD) layer or an inter-metal dielectric (IMD) layer over a substrate includes placing the substrate in a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process chamber and forming a first oxide layer over the substrate in the CVD process chamber. The first oxide layer is formed using a thermal CVD process at a temperature of about 450° C. or less and a sub-atmospheric pressure. The method also includes forming a second oxide layer over the first oxide layer in the CVD process chamber. The second oxide layer is formed using a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) process at a temperature of about 450° C. or less and a sub-atmospheric pressure. The substrate remains in the CVD process chamber during formation of the first oxide layer and the second oxide layer.

  • Patent number: 8114761
Abstract: Methods for doping a non-planar structure by forming a conformal doped silicon glass layer on the non-planar structure are disclosed. A substrate having the non-planar structure formed thereon is positioned in chemical vapor deposition process chamber to deposit a conformal SACVD layer of doped glass (e.g. BSG or PSG). The substrate is then exposed to RTP or laser anneal step to diffuse the dopant into the non-planar structure and the doped glass layer is then removed by etching.

  • Patent number: 8045295
Abstract: Method and apparatus are presented for electrically coupling a slider to ground. In one embodiment, a bonding pad is provided on a side of the slider body separate from the bonding pad(s) used for read/write signals. This separate bonding pad is electrically coupled within the slider body to components that are to be coupled to ground. A separate conductor provided on the suspension (e.g., a trace, a flex circuit, etc.) may be electrically coupled to the separate bonding pad via gold ball bonding. The conductor is also coupled to ground in the hard-disk drive device (e.g., via the preamplifier). The use of the separated bonding pad and trace may negate the need to use a conductive adhesive to electrically ground the slider via its attachment to the tongue of a slider.
