  • Publication number: 20160036118
Abstract: Biometric monitoring devices, including various technologies that may be implemented in such devices, are discussed herein. Additionally, techniques, systems, and apparatuses are discussed herein for providing a hybrid antenna including an RF radiator and an electrically coupled inductive loop. The hybrid antenna is capable of providing both RF and induction functionality, e.g., radio frequency transmission/reception capabilities for Bluetooth as well as near-field-communications (NFC) functionality via the inductive loop. The inductive loop may be in conductive contact with the RF radiator or may be inductively coupled with the RF radiator and not in conductive contact with the RF radiator. The inductive loop may act as a planar element of a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA).

In one example, the activity monitoring device includes a housing configured for attachment to a body part of a user. Also included ins a display screen attached to the housing and a sensor for capturing physiological conditions of the user. The sensor is disposed along a surface of the housing so that the sensor is proximate to the body part, the body part having at least some exposed skin. The activity monitoring device also includes memory for storing the captured physiological conditions, and a processor for examining the captured physiological conditions. • Publication number: 20150336444
Abstract: The invention relates to an absorption plate, in particular of an absorption air conditioner for a vehicle, crossed by a stream of liquid absorbent fluid (10) flowing between two exchange surfaces (35) arranged relatively opposite one another, the exofhermal absorption of a so-called coolant fluid in vapour phase taking place through said exchange surfaces (35) by increasing a concentration of the coolant fluid in the absorbent fluid (10), characterised in that the relative arrangement of the two exchange surfaces (35) forces at least one portion of the stream of absorbent fluid (10) to pass at least once through one of the exchange surfaces (35) and causes mixing of the stream of absorbent fluid (10).

  • Patent number: 9197877
Abstract: A smart pseudoscopic to orthoscopic conversion (SPOC) protocol, and method for using the SPOC protocol for three-dimensional imaging, are disclosed. The method allows full control over the optical display parameters in Integral Imaging (InI) monitors. From a given collection of elemental images, a new set of synthetic elemental images (SEIs) ready to be displayed in an InI monitor can be calculated, in which the pitch, microlenses focal length, number of pixels per elemental cell, depth position of the reference plane, and grid geometry of the microlens array (MLA) can be selected to fit the conditions of the display architecture.

  • Patent number: 8954135
Abstract: The present inventions, in one aspect, are directed to portable biometric monitoring device including a housing having a physical size and shape that is adapted to couple to the user's body, at least one band to secure the monitoring device to the user, a physiological sensor, disposed in the housing, to generate data which is representative of a physiological condition of the user data. The physiological sensor may include a light source to generate and output light having at least a first wavelength, and a photodetector to detect scattered light (e.g., from the user). A light pipe is disposed in the housing and optically coupled to the light source directs/transmits light therefrom along a predetermined path to an outer surface of the housing. Processing circuitry calculates a heart rate of the user using data which is representative of the scattered light.

  • Patent number: 8900545
Abstract: This invention refers to a novel process for obtaining high purity magnesium hydroxide from a solid starting material containing magnesium in the form of, and/or combined with, carbonates, oxides and/or hydroxides, either natural or synthetic. The process comprises leaching the starting material to dissolve the magnesium; the solution is treated with alkali to precipitate the high purity magnesium hydroxide, and the remaining mother liquor is fed to a regeneration step of both the alkali used in the precipitation of high purity magnesium hydroxide, and the acid for leaching. The process of the invention is characterized by recycling reactants (acid and alkali) regenerated in the same process.

  • Publication number: 20140347628
Abstract: The invention relates to a fundus camera that incorporates an integral imaging system for capturing an integral photograph of the fundus. This integral photograph enables projecting a three-dimensional image and generating topographical maps of the fundus. The fundus camera can function plenoptically and thus zoom onto a two-dimensional image generated from the integral photograph. The proposed equipment consists of an optical system for illuminating the fundus and an optical system forming the integral image capture system. This capture system includes an ophthalmoscopic lens, a microlens array and a sensor, and it allows recording, in a single shot, multiple views of the fundus. To improve the resolution of the integral photograph, the capture system has a device that allows displacing the microlens array by a few microns.
