  • Publication number: 20160282702
Abstract: An optical crystal can be mounted to a mounting block configured to receive the crystal. A base portion on the mounting block utilizes two walls forming a corner and a single biasing spring clip to secure the crystal. The spring clip applies forces in two different directions substantially orthogonal to the two walls. The spring clip is based off a symmetrical geometry which applies nearly the same force application in both directions. The spring also features bend regions that contact the crystal in such a way as to reduce the presence of point loads or stress risers. The length of contact along the crystal is maximized, allowing for proper force distribution and a sufficient surface are contact for static holding capabilities.

  • Patent number: 9440513
Abstract: An absorption plate for a vehicle is crossed by a stream of liquid absorbent fluid flowing between two exchange surfaces arranged relatively opposite one another. The exothermal absorption of a coolant fluid in vapor phase takes place through the exchange surfaces by increasing a concentration of the coolant fluid in the absorbent fluid. The relative arrangement of the two exchange surfaces forces at least one portion of the stream of absorbent fluid to pass at least once through one of the exchange surfaces and causes mixing of the stream of the absorbed fluid.

  • Publication number: 20160207450
Abstract: A method and tail light for controlling optical modules of the tail light, comprising the steps of activating one or more optical modules to generate a first signaling function, if the vehicle has reverse gear engaged, activating, according to a first mode of operation, one or more other optical modules to generate a second signaling function, if the vehicle does not have reverse gear engaged, activating the or at least one of the other optical modules to generate a complementary beam of light distinct from the beam of light that it emits in the first mode of operation and that supplements the first signaling function. The invention also relates to a tail light, notably for implementing this method.

  • Patent number: 9371572
Abstract: The present invention relates to a procedure for preparation by wet reduction method of nanometric particles of metallic silver, with diameter in the range of 1 to 100 nm and an average diameter of 20 to 40 nm, with monodispersion characteristics, stability greater than 12 months and in a wide range of concentrations. The process comprises 4 steps: a) preparation of the reducing agent solution, taken from the group of tannins and preferably being tannic acid; b) preparation of a solution of a soluble silver salt; c) reaction and, d) solid-liquid separation; the particle size is determined by the nature of the reducing agent and by the pH control of the currents. The final step is designed for separating and concentrating the material after which the user can prepare the product for integration thereof in the desired medium.

  • Publication number: 20160168447
Abstract: The present invention is related to the obtaining and use of zwitterionic geminal liquids based on hydroxypropyl betaine, as wettability modifiers of rocks such as limestone, dolomite, sandstone, quartz or heterogeneous lithologies, in the presence of brines with high content of divalent ions as calcium, magnesium, barium and strontium, at high temperature and high pressure conditions during the application of enhanced oil recovery processes. The zwitterionic geminal liquids based hydroxypropyl betaine of the present invention have also the property of acting as inhibitors/dispersing of asphaltenes, both at extraction and production operations of petroleum industry, thus allowing to increase the level of crude oil production. An additional advantage presented by zwitterionic geminal liquid based on hydroxypropyl betaine which can be dissolved in distilled water, brine, aliphatic hydrocarbons or other polar and nonpolar solvents.

  • Publication number: 20160150978
Abstract: An activity monitoring device, methods and computer readable media are provided. The activity monitoring device includes a housing configured for attachment to a body part of a user and a display screen attached to the housing. Further included is a first sensor disposed in the housing for capturing motion of the activity monitoring device when attached to the body part of the user and a second sensor disposed in the housing for sampling a heart rate of the user. Memory is disposed in the housing for storing the motion captured by the first sensor and the heart rate sampled by the second sensor. A processor is disposed in the housing and is configured to determine a physical state of the user during a period of time. For motion that is below a threshold the processor identifies the physical state to be a sedentary state and for motion that is at or above the threshold the processor identifies the physical state to be an active state.
