  • Patent number: 10004406
Abstract: An activity monitoring device, methods and computer readable media are provided. The activity monitoring device includes a housing configured for attachment to a body part of a user and a display screen attached to the housing. Further included is a first sensor disposed in the housing for capturing motion of the activity monitoring device when attached to the body part of the user and a second sensor disposed in the housing for sampling a heart rate of the user. Memory is disposed in the housing for storing the motion captured by the first sensor and the heart rate sampled by the second sensor. A processor is disposed in the housing and is configured to determine a physical state of the user during a period of time. For motion that is below a threshold the processor identifies the physical state to be a sedentary state and for motion that is at or above the threshold the processor identifies the physical state to be an active state.

  • Publication number: 20180171215
Abstract: The present invention refers to the formulation of a foaming agent for extreme conditions of salinity, temperature and concentration of divalent ions, including the improvement in the performance in these conditions with respect to the patent MX2008015989 A. Also, the design is presented of the experimental equipment used to characterize and evaluate foaming agents at laboratory level and conditions of pressure, temperature and salinity, in oil fields. The formulation of the foaming agent derived from this invention is a mixture of sodium alpha olefin sulfonates, alkylamido propyl betaines and triethanolamine, capable of giving it the benefit of being stable in temperature and salinity in a wide range, diluted in synthetic and congenital brines. This formulation is applicable for the control of gas mobility and improved oil recovery processes in naturally fractured reservoirs.

  • Publication number: 20180155065
Abstract: Example methods and systems of deploying a constellation of spacecraft are described. An example method includes releasing a cluster of spacecraft from a launch vehicle at a first orbit, separating spacecraft in the cluster of spacecraft from each other to minimize overlap of visibility periods from a ground station, and raising each of the spacecraft as separated simultaneously in a synchronized ascent to a respective final orbit. An example system includes a cluster of spacecraft in orbit at a first orbit, and a ground station in communication with spacecraft of the cluster of spacecraft when the spacecraft of the cluster are visible to the ground station. The ground station commands each spacecraft to separate from each other and to raise in altitude as separated simultaneously in a synchronized ascent to a respective final orbit.

  • Patent number: 9951923
Abstract: An optical device comprising at least one first light guide having an exit face. The first guide is configured to propagate the light rays emitted by a first light source toward its exit face. The exit face is placed facing a coupling zone that forms part of the lateral surface of a generally tubular second light guide of the optical device. The optical device allows the transmission of the light emitted via the exit face of the first guide through the second guide to be improved. The optical device especially proposes the implementation of a luminous device for an automotive vehicle integrating two luminous functions.

  • Patent number: 9841654
Abstract: An optical crystal can be mounted to a mounting block configured to receive the crystal. A base portion on the mounting block utilizes two walls forming a corner and a single biasing spring clip to secure the crystal. The spring clip applies forces in two different directions substantially orthogonal to the two walls. The spring clip is based off a symmetrical geometry which applies nearly the same force application in both directions. The spring also features bend regions that contact the crystal in such a way as to reduce the presence of point loads or stress risers. The length of contact along the crystal is maximized, allowing for proper force distribution and a sufficient surface are contact for static holding capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20170321789
Abstract: A mechanical energy divider includes an input shaft operably connected to a rotational energy source, an output shaft, and a regulator therebetween. The regulator includes a housing comprising an input gear coupled to the input shaft, an output gear coupled to the output shaft, and a regulator gear rotatably coupled to a first end of an axle that is affixed to the housing. A braking mechanism operably connected to the output shaft for preventing the output shaft from rotating above a set limit. Activation of the braking mechanism causes the regulator shaft to rotate, which causes a mechanical energy storage device comprising a cable and attached weight to raise upward, storing the excess energy as potential energy. The regulator rotates in the opposing direction when the input shaft rotates slower than the set limit, which releases the weight, thereby increasing the speed of the output to the set limit.

  • Publication number: 20170320817
Abstract: The present invention is related to obtaining and using sulfobetaine and hidroxisultaine-based geminal zwitterionic liquids as wettability modifiers for rocks such as limestone, dolomite, sandstone, quartz or heterogeneous lithologies, under the presence of brines having high content of divalent ions as calcium, magnesium, barium and strontium, at high temperature and high pressure conditions for enhanced oil recovery processes to increase the oil production. The geminal zwitterionic liquids of the present invention have also the property of acting as corrosion inhibitors of ferrous metals used in pipelines and equipment for crude oil extraction, production, transport and storage operations. A further advantage shown by zwitterionic liquids derived from their molecular structure is they can be dissolved in distilled water, brine, hydrocarbon solvents, aromatics and alcohols.
