  • Publication number: 20190113508
Abstract: The present invention provides novel compositions of binding moiety-nanoparticle conjugates, aggregates of these conjugates, and novel methods of using these conjugates, and aggregates. The nanoparticles in these conjugates can be magnetic metal oxides, either monodisperse or polydisperse. Binding moieties can be, e.g., oligonucleotides, polypeptides, or polysaccharides. Oligonucleotide sequences are linked to either non-polymer surface functionalized metal oxides or with functionalized polymers associated with the metal oxides. The novel compositions can be used in assays for detecting target molecules, such as nucleic acids and proteins, in vitro or as magnetic resonance (MR) contrast agents to detect target molecules in living organisms.

  • Patent number: 10249046
Abstract: A method for tracking an object commences by first establishing the object (12) in a current frame. Thereafter, a background region (202) is established encompassing the object in the current frame. The location for the object (12) is then estimated in a next frame. Next, the propagation of the background region (202) is determined. Finally, the object is segmented from its background based on propagation of the background region, thereby allowing tracking of the object from frame to frame.

  • Patent number: 10213458
Abstract: Differential surface-charge-dependent localization of nanoceria in normal cells and cancer cells plays a critical role in the toxicity profile of a nanoceria particle. Engineered surface-coated cerium oxide nanoparticles with different surface charges that are positive, negative and neutral provide therapeutic results for normal and cancer cell lines. Results show that nanoceria with a positive or neutral charge enters most of the cell lines studied, while nanoceria with a negative charge internalizes mostly in the cancer cell lines. Moreover, upon entry into the cells, nanoceria is localized to different cell compartments (e.g. cytoplasm and lysosomes) depending on the nanoparticle surface charge. The internalization and subcellular localization of nanoceria plays a key role in the nanoparticle cytotoxicity profile, exhibiting significant toxicity when they localize in the lysosomes of the cancer cell lines.

  • Publication number: 20190057376
Abstract: A system and method facilitates access and payment to a parking facility. The vehicle operator/owner downloads a software application and inputs personal and financial information during registration. The personal and financial information is stored in a parking facility server and a payment server. The system generates an electronic ticket, or a radio frequency identification technology, or Bluetooth networking standard that correspond to the personal and financial information. A reader at the gate controller, in the parking area, scans the electronic ticket or RFID from the mobile communication device or vehicle. The server authorizes the gate controller to enable access for the vehicle to a parking area, based on the information. When the vehicle egresses the parking area, the electronic ticket or RFID is scanned again, and the duration in the parking area is transmitted to payment server to process payment and provide a receipt based on duration in parking area.

  • Patent number: 10043631
Abstract: An overcurrent protection device comprises a current input terminal; a central terminal for output of current overshoots; and a terminal for output of non-impulse currents connected to a voltage of the central terminal. An electrical conductor element is connected between the input and output terminals at a reduced self-induction when operating without current overshoots. When current overshoots are present at the input terminal, the conductor produces a high drop of induction voltage between the input and output terminals. The central terminal is arranged in the vicinity of the input terminal at a distance that may be regulated. When due to current overshoot, the inductive voltage drop between the input and the non-impulse current output terminals exceeds the dielectric strength of the material present between the input and central terminals, an arc is generated between the input and central terminals to prevent the flow of current overshoots through the conductor element.

  • Publication number: 20170323274
Abstract: A method of providing a recommendation for optimizing operations of a set of industrial assets is disclosed. Digital twins of the set of industrial assets are generated. The digital twins include data structures representing states of each of a plurality of subsystems of the set of industrial assets over a time period. The states are estimated based on an application of simulations using cumulative damage models. The cumulative damage models model the effects of exogenous factors on the operation of the set of industrial assets over the time period. The digital twins are analyzed with respect to simulated operating performances to determine an optimized control of operations of the industrial assets. The optimized control of operations is calculated to jointly and severally to increase the specified operating performance criteria in time present and future of the industrial assets or decrease an economic risk associated with the operation of the industrial assets, within a specified probability.
