  • Patent number: 5366703
Abstract: A method for the generation of a supply of ozone containing process gas exhibiting high effective ozone content basically involves the steps of (a) providing a stream of an oxygen containing feed gas having a temperature not greater than about 50.degree. C. and an absolute pressure between about 1 and 3 bar, (b) subjecting the stream of feed gas to an electric discharge that transforms some of its oxygen content into ozone to produce a stream of ozone containing gas, and (c) compressing the ozone containing gas with simultaneous cooling thereof to produce a stream of ozone containing process gas having a temperature not greater than about the temperature of the feed gas, an absolute pressure greater than 3 bar and an absolute ozone partial pressure of at least 0.2 bar. Various systems for carrying out such methods are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5355571
Abstract: In order to open the watch case (1) by extraction of the crystal (2) such case is secured in an enclosure (3) after its stem and crown have been removed. Next, a suction cup (4) is applied to the crystal, such suction cup being maneuverable from outside the enclosure by means of a handle (40). By means of a pump controlled by a lever (37) the enclosure is subjected to a predetermined overpressure, following which a pulling force (A) is exerted on the suction cup until extraction of the crystal. The overpressure being the same at both the exterior and interior of the case, no displacement of air is brought about and hence no damage to the watch mechanism when the crystal is separated from the case.

  • Patent number: 5299179
Abstract: This pushpiece (1) for a timepiece includes a movable head (3) slidingly mounted on a tube (4), said head partially enveloping such tube. The head exhibits a central cylindrical core (5) which penetrates into the tube, at least one O ring seal (6) being located between the tube and the core. A return spring (7) urges the head towards the exterior. The core (5) is extended by a stem (8), the diameter of which is greater than the diameter of the core, the spring being arranged between the stem and the tube. In this manner the spring is located in a sealed zone of the pushpiece and the mean diameter of the O ring seal is less than the mean diameter of the spring.

  • Patent number: 5257247
Abstract: This valve (1) for a watch case comprises a head (3) and a tube (4) onto which the head can be screwed. A stem (8) fixed to a core (5) borne by the head is surrounded by a return spring (7) bearing, on the one hand, under the head and, on the other hand, onto a bottom (3) exhibited by the tube through a ring (14) and a first packing (6). A second packing (18) is mounted under the head in line with the tube. When the head is screwed down the second packing (18) is compressed and the valve is inoperative and at the same time totally sealed. When the head is unscrewed the first packing (6) is able to rise up against the return force of spring (7) if the fluid pressure prevailing within the case is higher than that on the exterior thereof. An excessive interior pressure which can damage the case is thus avoided.

  • Patent number: 5020778
Abstract: The invention provides a new stirring apparatus for stirring the liquid metal contents of a furnace, particularly the shallow furnaces used in the processing of aluminum and its alloys. The apparatus consists a reservoir separate from the furnace of relatively large horizontal cross-section and volume, into which a vaccuum draws metal from the furnace through a nozzle, the metal then being returned by gas pressure forcibly into the furnace through the nozzle in the form of a horizontally directed jet. The cycle is repeated at sufficiently close intervals to ensure that the furnace bath is quickly and effectively mixed. The nozzle directs the molten metal entering the reservoir tangentially to swirl the metal and reduce the accumulation of dross. The reservoir comprises a bottom static part including the nozzle and a readily removable top cover carrying heaters for heating the reservoir interior and the dross that deposits on the side wall to ease its removal.

  • Patent number: 4529504
Abstract: A process is described for removing both high polar and neutral nitrogen compounds from petroleum processing liquid products and petroleum distillate fractions. According to the novel feature, a chlorosilylated silica gel is used as adsorbent for the nitrogen compounds. • Patent number: 4519915
Abstract: Hot water is an important component in the recovery or extraction of bitumen and heavy oils. This hot water tends to form emulsions with the oil and when these emulsions are broken by demulsifiers and the oil separates, the remaining water retains a black color and cannot be recycled in the process. The black color has been most difficult to remove, but it has now been found that it can quite easily be removed by certain selected adsorbents. These include high ash coal rejects, fly ash from coking gas and red mud.
