  • Patent number: 6257992
Abstract: The sport implement, more particularly a golf club, has a shaft with a flexible joint dividing the shaft in at least two sections. The joint includes first and second sleeve members receiving and secured to the respective shaft sections. An abutment member defining two flanges normal to each other extends from and is secured to the first sleeve member. The second sleeve member fits into the abutment member when the two shaft sections are aligned and an elastic member interconnects the two sleeve members to allow pivoting of the second sleeve member in any plane away from said two flanges and to bias the two shaft sections into alignment. Flexing is made easier in a plane at 45° to said two flanges than in planes normal to the same. The invention concerns more particularly a golf club with the flexible joint adjacent the hand grip.

  • Publication number: 20010000738
Abstract: A cementitious panel comprising a cementitious core which is fabric-reinforced at the surface thereof and whose longitudinal edges are reinforced by a network of fibers. A panel may be obtained wherein the surface edge reinforcement layers are relatively strong and hard such that a nail or screw may be driven through the edge of panel without pre-drilling and without breaking, even when nailed or screwed almost at the very limit of the edge of the panel. Such a panel may provide a long lasting substrate for humid or wet areas such as shower rooms and bath rooms.

  • Patent number: 6207939
Abstract: The device and the method are used to de-ice an elongated structural element having a closed contour. The device is formed of pairs of electrically conductive and insulated wires, preformed for winding, one next to the other, along and around the structural element following an helicoidal trajectory while embracing the contour of the structural element with a certain gap. The conductive wires have ends for receiving electromagnetic impulses, and opposite ends electrically connected together. The conductive wires are sized to withstand a current causing a repulsion force whose intensity is capable of breaking the ice or the frost on the structural element by the separation of the conductive wires from each other in response to the repulsion. The conductive wires have rigidity and elasticity properties such that they recover their shape around the structural element after the separation caused by the repulsion.

  • Patent number: 6167404
Abstract: The present invention concerns a multimedia presentation computer program that includes method and apparatus for sharing presentation functions between portions of the program by means of an interface that is implemented as one or more dynamically linked custom programs that perform one or more functions as the multimedia presentation computer program executes. A number of interface methods in the multimedia presentation computer program are declared and are implemented in the custom program The interface methods of the custom program are made accessible to the multimedia presentation computer program by means of an identifier. A host program within the multimedia presentation computer program communicates with the custom program by means of custom program parameters that at least in part define operation of the custom program. The custom program executes and thereby implements its one or more functions for use by the multimedia presentation computer program.

  • Patent number: 6162359
Abstract: Process for recovering and reusing effluent gas from an ozonization reactor in a plant for treating effluent, especially sewage, which includes a biological reactor, a clarifier and an ozonization reactor. The effluent gas from the ozonization reactor is brought, as a cocurrent, into contact with a stream of water containing compounds that can be oxidized by the ozone, so that the residual ozone is removed and efficiently consumed. The effluent gas thus stripped of the residual ozone is then, optionally, pressurized using a fluid taken from the plant so as to produce a gas/liquid mixture. The gas liquid mixture is converted into an emulsion of fine bubbles, and the emulsion is introduced into the biological reactor, preferably near the bottom of the latter.

  • Patent number: 6018152
Abstract: A method and device for removing ice from overhead conductors of a bundle of conductors or preventing an accumulation of ice on these conductors. The method includes forcing the entire current load of the line in one or a portion of the conductors, the excessive power dissipated in this manner de-ices the conductor by Joule heating. The method is repeated for different conductors of the bundle until they have all been de-iced or for the entire duration of an ice storm. Electric power units are provided on each conductor to control the current circulation as needed, and a command module controls the entire system. Conducting elements are provided at the beginning and at the end of the line to allow a distribution of the current as needed.
