  • Publication number: 20180248698
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring data input are disclosed. A dataset entered into a non-password field is received. Based on the dataset meeting one or more criteria for a likely password, a determination as to whether the dataset is inadvertently entered into the non-password field is made. Based on determining that the dataset is inadvertently entered into the non-password field, further processing of the dataset is inhibited.

  • Publication number: 20180206045
Abstract: Scene and/or state information may be used to facilitate processing an input to separate one or more signals within the input, to shape the signal within the input, and/or for other processing of the input or signal(s) within the input. A scene determination may be made based upon location data, time data, data describing the received input, or other basis. A state determination may be made based upon the scene determination, properties of a signal itself, or other information such as location, time, etc. By determining an appropriate scene and/or state, processing of an input and/or a signal within an input may proceed in a fashion determined to provide the most valuable information for output. Systems and methods in accordance with the invention may be implemented in a wide variety of baseband processing systems, such as hearing aids and energy consumption monitoring systems.

  • Patent number: 9986377
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods in a mobile device for determining a breach of a geofence is presented. A reference radio frequency (RF) fingerprint is obtained by the mobile device, the reference RF fingerprint defining the geofence. The reference RF fingerprint may be generated by the mobile device or received from a different mobile device. The mobile device scans for RF signals and determines a scanned RF fingerprint based on the scan for RF signals. A breach of the geofence is determined using the reference RF fingerprinting and the scanned RF fingerprint.

  • Patent number: 9946337
Abstract: A method and apparatus for utilizing an inertial measurement unit and one or more additional sensors on a head mounted display is provided. In an embodiment, a head mounted display system sends inertial measurement unit data and head mounted display removal data to a tracking computing device. The tracking computing device identifies a time of removal of the head mounted display from the head of the user and stores a portion of the inertial measurement unit data corresponding to the time of removal of the head mounted display from the head of the user. Based on the stored portion of the inertial measurement unit data, the tracking computing device determines a state of the user of the head mounted display system at the time of removal.

  • Patent number: 9927949
Abstract: A computing device can utilize a recognition mode wherein an interface utilizes graphical elements, such as virtual fireflies or other such elements, to indicate objects that are recognized or identified. As objects are recognized, fireflies perform one or more specified actions to indicate recognition. A ribbon or other user-selectable icon is displayed indicates a specific action that the device can perform with respect to the respective object. As additional objects are recognized, additional ribbons are created and older ribbons can be moved off screen and stored for subsequent retrieval or search. The fireflies disperse when the objects are no longer represented in captured sensor data, and can be animated to move towards representations of new objects as features of those objects are identified as potential object features, in order to communicate a level of recognition for a current scene or environment.

  • Patent number: 9905033
Abstract: A computing device can include a recognition mode interface utilizing graphical elements, such as virtual fireflies, to indicate recognized or identified objects. The fireflies can be animated to move across a display, and the fireflies can create bounding boxes around visual representations of objects as the objects are recognized. In some cases, the object might be of a type that has specific meaning or information to be conveyed to a user. In such cases, the fireflies might be displayed with a particular size, shape, or color to convey that information. The fireflies also can be configured to form shapes or patterns in order to convey other types of information to a user, such as where audio is being recognized, light is sufficient for image capture, and the like. Other types of information can be conveyed as well via altering characteristics of the fireflies.

  • Publication number: 20180013461
Abstract: A circuit for direct current (DC) offset estimation comprises a quantile value circuit and a signal processor. The quantile value circuit determines a plurality of quantile values of an input signal and includes a plurality of quantile filters. Each quantile filter includes a comparator, a level shifter, a monotonic transfer function component, and a latched integrator. The comparator compares the input signal and a quantile value. The level shifter shifts the output of the comparator. The monotonic transfer function component determines the magnitude of the shifted signal and provide a transfer function signal. The latched integrator suppresses transient characteristics of the transfer function signal and provide the quantile value. The signal processor is configured to calculate a weighted average of the quantile values to yield a DC offset estimate.

Electrical systems providing power to appliances to be monitored in accordance with the present invention may comprise split phase alternating current systems, tri-phase systems, or any other type of electrical system. Known loads may be applied to calibrate the monitoring system. The monitoring system may measure the power consumption of appliances operating on the electrical system and/or detect possible fault conditions. The application of a known load to each phase of the electrical system for calibration permits different portions of the electrical system to be isolated and, therefor, provides improved accuracy in monitoring power consumption and detection of potential fault conditions.
