  • Patent number: 8706895
Abstract: A bit stream analyzer may detect a bitstream representing a streamed content file that is being streamed from a streaming server to a client over a network connection. An encoding rate extractor may determine an encoding rate of the bitstream, and a bit rate extractor may determine a transfer bit rate at which the bitstream is being streamed. A pause calculator may determine a minimum wait time experienced at the client during which playback of the streamed content file is paused, based on the encoding rate and the transfer bit rate.

  • Publication number: 20140052559
Abstract: A method of dynamically altering a user interface based on safety level is provided. A user interface is provided to a user in a vehicle with the user interface including a selectable option to wirelessly place a bid on an electronic auction. The selectable option is based, at least in part, on an auction parameter. A safety level score is then determined for the vehicle. The auction parameter is then dynamically altered based on the speed of the vehicle, resulting in a change to the selectable option.

  • Publication number: 20140052745
Abstract: A method of automatically performing a search based on user interest detected in a vehicle is provided. A user interest of a user in a vehicle is detected by examining sensor information from one or more sensors in the vehicle. A search is automatically performed for items relevant to the user interest. A user interface in the vehicle is then caused to display the items relevant to the user interest.

  • Patent number: 8601307
Abstract: A method includes providing a persistent common view of a virtual shared storage system. The virtual shared storage system includes a first shared storage system and a second shared storage system, and the persistent common view includes information associated with data and instructions stored at the first shared storage system and the second shared storage system. The method includes automatically updating the persistent common view to include third information associated with other data and other instructions stored at a third shared storage system in response to adding the third shared storage system to the virtual shared storage system.

  • Patent number: 8601308
Abstract: A method providing a persistent common view of data, services, and infrastructure functions accessible via a plurality of shared storage systems of a virtual shared storage system. The method includes applying different governance policies at two or more shared storage systems of the virtual shared storage system. The method includes transferring content from a particular shared storage system to a requesting device without using at least one of a server session, an application-to-server session, and an application session. The content corresponds to at least one of data, a service, and an infrastructure function provided via the particular shared storage system.

  • Publication number: 20130181993
Abstract: A process for determining and labeling areas of interest, including steps for receiving a plurality of data points from a plurality of users, each data point received at a particular time, determining a user location for each of the plurality of data points and generating a heat map from the plurality of data points, wherein the heat map represents a population density distribution over a geographic area divided into a plurality of cells. In certain aspects, the process further includes steps for identifying at least one cluster of cells within the geographic, generating a bounded polygon for the at least one cluster of cells and storing the at least one cluster of cells and its corresponding bounded polygon as an area of interest in a geographical information system. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20120301224
Abstract: The invention relates to a protective element (20) for connecting to a concrete element (10) of a tunnel lining, to the concrete element (10) and to the method for producing the concrete element (10). It is an object of the invention to provide a protective element (20) for a tunnel lining, or the associated concrete element, which ensures that the protective casing of the tunnel lining is better safeguarded against corrosive gases or liquids. The solution of the invention provides that the protective element (20) is produced from an injection-moldable plastics material, that a protective portion (21, 22, 23) is connected in a single piece to a seal (30), wherein the connection is gas-tight and liquid-tight, that the protective portion (21, 22, 23) is connected in a single piece to a connecting element (24, 25, 26, 27, 28), and that the single-piece connection is produced by injection molding of the plastics material.
