    Abstract: A method comprises configuring a wireless device with a plurality of carriers, each of the plurality of carriers comprising a communication channel between the wireless device and one of the network node or another wireless device, and grouping the configured carriers into at least a first group and a second group.     Abstract: A method by a first UE for selecting a radio resource for transmitting a packet, includes obtaining a basic period value related to expected timing of transmissions by a second UE. A sub-period value is obtained that is less than the basic period value. Radio resources are monitored for a packet or booking message that is transmitted by the second UE and indicates that the second UE will potentially transmit a next packet using a radio resource and timing. The monitoring is restricted to a timeframe determined based on the sub-period value within each occurrence of a time period determined based on the basic period value. Responsive to the monitoring identifying the packet or booking message, a radio resource is selected for use in transmitting a packet based on the radio resource and timing that is potentially to be used by the second UE to transmit the next packet.

    Abstract: In one aspect of the teachings herein, a radio network node (20) associated with a source cell (22-1) provides sidelink configuration information to a wireless device (16) to be handed over to a target cell (22-2). The information indicates the sidelink synchronization and resource configurations associated with the target cell, and the wireless device performs sidelink communications based on the sidelink synchronization and resource configurations of the target cell. Receiving the sidelink resource and timing information associated with the target cell enables the wireless device to perform sidelink communications using the target-cell resources and timing, even while still being served in a cellular sense from the source cell. Thus, the wireless device may begin or resume sidelink communications using the sidelink timing and resources associated with the target cell, irrespective of whether cellular handover of the wireless device from the source cell to the target cell has completed.

    Abstract: A method in a base station for handling sector selection is provided. A wireless terminal is connected to a first sector comprised in a combined cell. When a quality of the communication resources in the first sector is below a first threshold, the base station determines that the first sector is no longer the best sector for the wireless terminal. Then the base station sends an order to the wireless terminal to initiate a random access procedure in the combined cell. The base station then selects a second sector in the combined cell based on measurements of signal strength of random access preambles received from the wireless terminal in each respective sector in the combined cell. The random access preambles are received from the wireless terminal in the initiated random access procedure. The second sector is selected for the wireless terminal to communicate in.

    Abstract: A method in a base station for adapting link adaptation of a transmission between a user equipment and the base station is provided. The link adaptation relates to an initial value of a Block Error Rate, BLER, related to the transmission. The base station decides that the user equipment is in congestion responsive to a scheduling bit rate for the transmission in relation to a rate of data packets arriving to or being sent by the user equipment being below a first threshold. Responsive to the user equipment being in congestion, the base station adapts the link adaptation by increasing the value of the BLER of the link adaptation in relation to the initial value, until the user equipment is out of congestion or until the base station detects that any one of the user equipment and the base station tries to send high priority data.
