  • Publication number: 20110286343
Abstract: Wi-Fi setup application and path switching applications are provided to allow commands received from native applications of the UE to be redirected to a Wi-Fi engine. The Wi-Fi engine supports circuit switched and packet switched services over a Wi-Fi connection, thus allowing commands received from native applications on a UE to connect the user to either a wireless unlicensed communication system or a wireless licensed communication system.

  • Patent number: 8054165
Abstract: A method is presented that establishes, at a telecommunication device that is at a particular service region of a first communication network, a Transmission Control Protocol over Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) connection between the telecommunication device and a network controller that communicatively couples several service regions of the first communication network to a licensed wireless second communication network. The method receives a channel activation message from the network controller over the TCP/IP connection. The channel activation message initiates the telecommunication device to activate a channel for a communication session. The method sends communication session data through an activated channel to the network controller for routing to the licensed wireless second communication network. The method receives a release message from the network controller over the TCP/IP connection.

  • Publication number: 20110255525
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method that sends information about a wireless communication system access point to a server. The method receives the access point information at the mobile station from the server. The method enables the mobile station to access the wireless communication system through the access point by using the access point information. In some embodiments, the access point information is sent from the server to the mobile station using a short message service (SMS) message. In some embodiments, the access point information includes the SSID and the MAC ID of the access point.
