  • Publication number: 20250357024
Abstract: A process and method for tagging identifiers in an automotive wire harness for recognition and installation. The process and method include attaching a plurality of first identifier tags to a wire harness, where each of the plurality of first identifier tags identifies a section of the wire harness. Continuing and identifying, based on the plurality of first identifier tags, a plurality of sections of the wire harness is accomplished. The wire harness is prepared for assembly into an automotive chassis, where the preparing includes, by section, an unfolding, flipping, or pulling of the wire harness, based on the plurality of first identifier tags. The process and method include attaching a plurality of second identifier tags to the automotive chassis, where each of the plurality of second identifier tags identifies a corresponding receptacle area associated with the one or more of the first identifier tags.

  • Publication number: 20250353452
Abstract: Presented are collapsible harnesses substrate systems for optimized positioning of electrical wiring harnesses, methods for making/using such harness substrate systems, and motor vehicles assembled using such harness substrate systems. A wiring harness substrate system includes a wiring harness with multiple electrical connectors, multiple cable segments electrically interconnected with the electrical connectors, and optional junctions, relays, embedded sensors, etc. A collapsible harness substrate supports thereon the wiring harness, e.g., to optimize storage, shipping, unpacking, and installation of the harness. Integrally formed with or attached to the harness substrate are a distributed array of holding features and a network of interconnected cable channels. The holding features releasably secure the electrical connectors and the cable segments to the harness substrate, whereas the cable channels receive therein and route the cable segments across the harness substrate.

  • Publication number: 20250353559
Abstract: A deployable wiring harness system has a deployable wiring harness that includes insulated conductive cables with connectors assembled onto distal ends thereof. The insulated conductive cables are arranged as a lattice having segments joined at bendable nodes, wherein the segments are joined at the bendable nodes, and wherein the segments includes a machine-readable identifier. Also included is a wiring harness hanger that is affixed to one of the segments, and a wiring harness extender that is coupled to adjoined ones of the segments that are joined at the one of the bendable nodes. The wiring harness extender is arrangeable to urge the adjoined ones of the segments that are joined at the one of the bendable nodes towards a deployed state. An elongated stiffening member is affixed to respective insulated conductive cables of one of the segments at multiple locations.
