Abstract: Described is an economical and novel process for preparing a mixture containing 2-campholenylidenbutanol having the structure: ##STR1## by means of reacting the compound having the structure: ##STR2## with hydrogen in the presence of a copper chromite catalyst having the formula:CuO.CuCr.sub.2 O.sub.4as well as uses of such mixtures in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of perfume compositions, colognes and perfumed articles including fabric softener compositions, cosmetic powders and solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergents.

Abstract: Described are 5-nitro-1,1,2,3,3-pentamethyl indane derivatives defined according to the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein R represents hydrogen or methyl and uses thereof in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of consumable materials selected from the group consisting of perfume compositions, colognes and perfumed articles.

Abstract: Described is a liquid mixture of a tricyclic isochroman derivatives and acetyl tetrahydronaphthalene derivatives wherein the acetylated tetrahydronaphthalene derivative mixture consists essentially of the compound having the structure: ##STR1## with minor amounts of compounds having the structures: ##STR2## and uses of such mixtures of tricyclic isochroman derivative mixtures and acetyl tetrahydronaphthalene derivative mixtures in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of perfume compositions, colognes and perfumed articles including but not limited to solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergents, fabric softener compositions, fabric softener articles, hair preparations, cosmetic powders and perfumed polymers.

Abstract: Described is a mixture of polyhydroindan carboxaldehydes defined according to the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.7 represents a moiety selected from the group consisting of methyl and isopropyl prepared by means of reacting bicyclopentadiene with a lower alkanol in the presence of a Lewis acid in order to form a mixture of compounds defined according to the structure: ##STR2## and then reacting the resulting ether with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of an "oxo" reaction catalyst.

Abstract: Processes and compositions are described for the use in foodstuff flavor and aroma and perfumes and perfumed articles aroma augmenting, modifying, altering and enhancing compositions and as foodstuff, chewing gum, toothpaste, medicinal product, perfumes and perfumed articles aroma imparting materials of tricyclic isochroman mixtures wherein in the mixtures each of the compounds is defined according to the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represent methyl or hydrogen with the proviso that when one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is methyl, the other of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represents hydrogen.Addition of said tricyclic isochroman mixtures is indicated to produce:a. Abstract: Described is a method for producing the substantially pure compound defined according to the structure: ##STR1## and uses thereof in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of perfume compositions, colognes and perfumed articles such as perfumed polymers and solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergents, fabric softener compositions and fabric softener articles. Also described are processes and compositions for use in perfume aroma augmenting, enhancing, modifying and altering compositions and as perfume, cologne and perfumed article aroma imparting compositions of mixtures of the compound having the structure: ##STR2## taken further together with one or more butanolyl cyclohexane derivatives and/or 3-methyl-1-phenyl-pentanol-5.The process for preparing the compound having the structure: ##STR3## involves a one-step reaction wherein the compound having the structure: ##STR4## is hydrogenated in the presence of acid.
