    Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes a valvetrain having a rocker arm assembly including a rocker arm on which a latch pin is mounted. An actuator for the latch pin, including an electromagnet, is mounted separately from the rocker arm. Therefore, the rocker arm is able to move independently from the electromagnet. The electromagnet is operative to cause the latch pin to actuate through magnetic flux following a magnetic circuit that passes through the rocker arm. Mounting the electromagnet apart from the rocker arm allows wires powering the electromagnet to be held in relatively static positions. The magnetic circuit is arranged to bring magnetic flux into the latch pin, or a co-acting part, within the volume of the rocker arm. This enables a compact design that is suitable for installation in engines where the available space under the valve cover may be very limited.

    Abstract: This invention provides improved printed heaters to heat a variety of articles. The improvement comprises replacing the single large area resistive material layer with columns of a number of small patches of resistive material or of continuous resistive material, i.e., replacing the single large area heater with a number of smaller individual heaters. Printing of the resistive material is facilitated since the area of each resistive material patch is greatly reduced. In addition, some embodiments enable the opportunity to provide a breathable heater for use in wearable garments.

For each processor core, an estimated cost to schedule a particular thread on the processor core is calculated. The estimated cost to schedule can be a period of time between the scheduling decision and the point in time where the scheduled thread begins to run. For each processor core, an estimated cost to execute the particular thread on the processor core is calculated. The estimated cost to execute can be a period of time spent actually running the particular thread on a particular processor core. A determination as to which processor core to utilize for execution of the particular thread based, at least in part, upon the calculated estimated costs to schedule the particular thread and/or the calculated estimated costs to execute the particular thread. The particular thread can be scheduled to execute on the determined processor core.

When tensile force above a predetermined level is applied to the auxetic portion by a vehicle occupant, e.g., the chest of the vehicle occupant, the auxetic portion both stretches along the axis and widens transverse to the axis, i.e., has a negative Poisson ratio.

The disclosed technology generates state data associated with a vehicle using sensor data received from the vehicle and from external objects within a vicinity of the vehicle. The state data includes any of a location of the vehicle, a destination of the vehicle, an operational status of the vehicle, and information associated with a vehicle environment. In response to determining that the state data satisfies a state criterion, a determination of solution profile data that matches the state data is made on the basis of a comparison of the state data to the solution profile data. Solution data is generated using the matching solution profile data to transmit the solution data to the vehicle for execution.

Specifically, a brain computer interface system captures neural signals from an individual at mesoscopic resolutions using optical neuroimaging techniques. The system applies the captured neural signals to multiple predictive models that have been trained on neural signals captured from previous individuals. The predictive models output predictions as to a phoneme or word that corresponds to the captured neural signals. Therefore, the individual can communicate through the brain computer interface system by only providing neural signals without using verbal, expressive, or physical means.
